monta ellis injured out at least 3 months.

Well I guess that eliminates Golden State from playoff contention.

The Golden State Warriors won't have Baron Davis or Monta Ellis in their starting lineup on opening night.

In the latest blow during a difficult summer for Golden State, ESPN.com has learned that Ellis -- just awarded one of the biggest pay raises in league history -- will be sidelined at least three months, possibly four, after suffering a severe high ankle sprain in his hometown of Jackson, Miss.

Ellis was scheduled to undergo surgery on his left ankle in Alabama on Wednesday, according to team sources, after he informed the club late last week that he had injured himself working out. More specifics about how Ellis sustained the injury were not immediately available.

Good news for other teams that will battle for 6-8 spots in the West, Denver is definitely one of them. Still leaves Portland and Clippers that will challenge us for those spots.

you can add the mavs and maybe even the suns to that list of teams fighting for a spot.i wasn't impressed at all with either team after the trades.they may gel more and become a better unit but as of right now(what i seen last season) they seem to be in the same boat as us.
trust me...i know what the hell i'm talking about!

Think GS could panic and be convinced to bring in AI?

AI for Marcus Williams, Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson?

Ehh.. doesn't work too well. Jackson isn't needed, but having a big man who can shoot would help the offense, and Williams is still young enough to develop in to something good. Just need to find someone else to send Jackson too..

Crazy unrealistic idea, and sorry if I should put it in trade thread, seemed kinda on topic here.

doesn't eliminate them from playoff picture. 3 months from now is the end of november....which is only 12 (?) games into the season. probably adds a handful of losses though, which could help us get in. but if we need that much help getting in, we'll only be playing 4 more games anyway.

I would rather let AI expire then take those guys on. S-Jax would only compete for minutes with Melo, JR and LK leaving all 4 pretty pissed off. Harrington is alright but I am not too high on him, and Williams would be an upgrade at point, but he really would work his best alongside AI.

That's not even mentioning what the lockerroom would be like after adding those 3. Imagine the extra strip club revenue though for Denver strip clubs.........

Yeah, a third team would be needed to take Jackson, but I agree it wouldn't be the best of ideas. Depends on what the third team brings.

Although corona made a good point.

Those 12 games might be all it takes though. They started out something like 0-6 last season and that certainly helped us out down the stretch. I think the article said it would be a minimum of 3 months, so if it goes to 4 that helps our chances even more. I like Monta's game so I hope he isn't down too long, but if it helps us out I'll take it.
