MARBURY

If the Knicks do let him go, do we pursue?

I think even though he's not a perfect fit, he's far better than AC/Chucky.....and it sounds like he's healthy with his outside shot back. let's not forget how good he was in Minnesota with KG, perhaps this could be a good fit...

Thoughts?

OH, and why the he&& are we not going after signing Elton Brown? Cheap Big off the bench, double double guy....

If they went with that style of point guard why not just move AI to the point?

Personally, I'd love to see AI at the point, and JR starting at the two. But I just don't see AI as a natural PG, and Marbury is.....

Figured it was only a matter of time before he was mentioned. I dont think bringing him in at the vet min for a year would be the worst thing ever. If hes a problem, send him on his way. He has the talent to play the point well here and who knows, could be the missing piece. Getting him out of the Big Apple could change his game and make him a useful player again in my opinion. We shall see though...

Oh and if we don't make a move for another point guard, Iverson has to be moved to point or this team will be a disaster.

AI is a better point guard than Marbury.

AI and JR is better than Marbury and AI
AI and JR is better than Marbury and JR

Marbury is completely unnecessary. And by the way, his defense is no better than the guards denver already has.

I would prefer AI + JR however the important truth is:

Marbury + AI >>>> AC + AI

OMG PLEASE DO IT!

I've said it over and over. Marbury is the PERFECT POINT GUARD for Carmelo. GET IT DONE.

It makes ZERO SENSE to have Marbury on the same lineup as AI. ZERO!!!!!!!!!!

My brain may explode if I have to watch a Marbury/AI backcourt. I love me some AI, but that is just too much for me to handle. Personally, I want him the hell away from this team, last thing we need is for JR to look up and be influenced by Marbury.

It didn't work in the Olympics, why would it work here?

Why?

Because, if you ask my opinion, it's time to let go of AI. Bringing Marbury in at a cheap price, use AI to get a good young big and a backup two guard. Allows JR to start (which he should be) and gives us some more youth.....

Marbury/JR Smith/Melo/Kmart/Nene starting 5 is a nice lineup that could be VERY effective. If we can get a good trade for AI, now's the time to make that move. I love AI's game, but right now he's a defensive liability. However, he still has value....

If we're really in "rebuilding mode", then let's rebuild. I would suggest AI and possibly a pick for Steve Blake, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Raef Lafrentz (who would of course be cut).

We save cap room, get a legit backup PG/SG in Blake, can trade AC or Chucky for a 2nd to a team in need of a PG (and there's plenty who need one), and get a solid young big.

Thoughts? Don't know if Portland would do this trade, though....Lamarcus is pretty important to them. However, they do still have Oden....

I don't see any reason why Portland would go for it. Portland is a team building for the future, AI does not exactly fit into that picture. And he sure as hell would not be around much after that, considering their backcourt is already crowded with young talent in Bayless, Roy and Fernandez. So really we would be asking them to take one year of AI, for a player many in Portland feel may be a future all-star, their best expiring contract and their only true PG.

Wow.. there is no way in heck Portland does that. They do have Oden, but he is a center, LM will be there starting PF. And even if Portland's GM gets in to some bad crack and does this, why would Lafrentz be cut? You don't cut expiring contracts. You keep them and use them, if something good comes up.

Never said they WOULD do it, I was just giving an example of a trade that would benefit us.......

I think a more likely scenario would involve either Hinrich/Gordon and Noah/Gooden....

My point was that if we picked up Marbury, it gives us the flexibility to trade AI (which in turn allows us to rebuild without entirely dismantling a solid starting 5)

First of all we dont know what THE GREAT George Karl is going to with the starting lineup. Will he start A.C and A.I in the backcourt again.(I really hope not). Marbury is definitely an upgrade over A.C and Atkins but why would Marbury want to come to a cold weather site. He once ripped Minnesota as "Minnesnowta" because it snowed too much. It would definitely be the best talent Marbury played with since he paired with KG. There's a big part of me that says no way why do you need him. The other part of me says what will it hurt. He wont cost them alot of money. He gives them another halfcourt option. He doesn't play any defense though but who does on Denver. He would fit right in.

Portland has a bright future. Why would they damage that by trading key pieces for a players who's a proven cancer?

Don't expect equal value in a trade for AI.
