Juwan Howard signs

The Nuggets have signed veteran 6-9 forward Juwan Howard to a one-year minimum, non-guaranteed deal, a source said.

Howard, 35, is in town for a physical and should be ready to participate in Denver's evening practice session.

A Nugget from 2001 to 2003, Howard put up big numbers for much of his career and as recently as 2006-07, he still averaged 9.7 points and 5.9 rebounds. Last season, however, he didn't get his regular minutes for the Mavericks - 7.1 compared to his career average of 33.3 -- and only scored 1.1 points per game.

For his career, Howard averages 15.3 points.

Eh I like this signing... maybe he's washed up but he's the link to the hard working 2002-03 Nuggets that I remember. Hopefully he can bring that attitude back to this team.

Balks a wing, not a post player. thats the major difference between him and eddie.

As for Juwan, love the move. Gives us more depth and brings in a great guy and somewhat fan favorite from his first time here. Hopefully hes still got something left in the tank.

i like this move also i think he still has enough in his tank dallas just didnt give him a shot now all we need is a pg livingston maybe since no teams really want him i mean he's better than the guards we have in camp now lol

Apparently this year is the Nuggets reunion year. Andersen, Patterson, now Howard.

ehh, he was always a serviceable player but we'll see if he's got enough in the tank to make the squad.

don't mind it. always good to have a veteran big who can hit the 15-18 foot shot as a backup (if he even makes the team).

Not a bad signing, can help out Nene on his game. He can step up and play about 15 MPG as Kenyon's back-up.

LaPhonso Ellis agrees to a 10-day sometime this year - book it.

Hope it works out; Juwan always got the hate for his big deal but he was a good player for a very long time and just two seasons ago, he was still a 10/6 guy. Figure a 6'9 PF with a jumper could be good for the PnR and could help on the glass, space the floor, etc. Certainly a better option than Camby taking jumpers, anyway; should be an overall offensive improvement now that Gumby is gone.
