Allen Iverson Appreciation Thread

Well, it was short. But with the right coach, under the right system, it could have worked. Just wasn't meant to be.

Dude was a warrior, and played with his heart on his sleeve. Can't fault him for that.
Good luck in Detroit.

I love the guy. He absolutely brought it every night, and clearly has a passion for the game that most elite NBA guys don't have. Every year for the past several was supposed to be the year his body broke down on him, and he continues to prove the doubters wrong.

Here's hoping he continues to do it in Detroit - I'd love to see him get a decent playoff run this year.

True.
Good luck in Detroit.
NBA Championship is the only thing missing in your career.

He competes and he just wants to win. One of the greatest competitors. Hope you find luck in Detroit.

Hes a great competitor and plays the game with passion. I'm going to miss him, but this looks like the right move for this team. I wish our coach could have attempted to make the Melo-Ai combo work but he was too busy trying to find ways to integrate Anthony Carter into the lineup. Anyways, heres to a Denver-Detroit finals!

ditto what everyone else says.

with karl convinced to start carter alongside him...it just wasn't going to work.
heck of a player, lock for HOF, i'm glad we traded for him, he was very entertaining to watch for 2 years.

good luck in detroit.

Hey man, loved his personality and his warrior spirit. This is not necessarily a bad thing - he'll be loved in Detroit and be able to be the prolifiv scorer he really is. Appreciate all he gave to the organization and hope him the best.

I was at that 50 point game vs the Lakers, I will never forget it.

I remember going to his first game with Melo and when he threw that lob and Melo jumped out of the building to grab it.

Good times, he will be missed. I remember all the HOLY **** how did he do that.

Good luck in Detroit AI, I'll be rooting for you the whole way.

Always loved the guy, loved him in Philly, loved him Denver, will love him in Detroit. He is/was a true warrior. He will be missed, but I like the direction we are headed now.

Man im going to miss him, although the combo of ai and melo didn't work it was still fun as hell to see this guy play, wish him the best with detroit he should have a legit shot at winning the chip there so it's a good thing.

Melo looked very sad when he was giving his reaction to the trade. KMart couldnt believe it. I wish it could have worked. A.I played with alotta heart. He never took a play off. Also according to Karl he was a model citizen and didnt give him any problems.

Still is and always will be one of my all time favorite players. That being said, I am glad that both sides are able to move on and potentially do very well. He just was never the right fit here.

this is twicw now ai has crossed paths with a pg that would be perfect next to him in the backcourt...it seems funny for it to happen now when ai really has looked to put this team first and personal agenda's aside.

loved what he brought to this team although he didn't always play the right way but his i'm not afraid of any team attitude went along way with this team.

this is one of the few trades that look like a great move for both teams at early glance.oh well I still think this could have worked if karl would have started his best players ai jr melo kmart nene.

for the record what are the chances he comes back after the season?I mean he did say that it's not about the money!

btw if what was said is true big ups to stan the man who said he would only trade iverson if it made us better and sent him to a contender at the same time.he said he wanted to respect what iverson did for us and the leaue in general and it's only right for allen to have a chance to win.

Haven't seen anybody play as hard or leave it all out there like A.I. We were able to watch one of the games greatest players every single night for a few seasons, it was fun while it lasted. Hope he can win in Detriot.

Actually, since his contract expires he is free to sign with any other team. Who is to say he will not cross paths with a true pg again? Not to step on JR's feet or anything, but if it doesn't work out in Detroit AI has his options. The only reason AI back to Denver would not work is the money - does AI really mean the championship is the most important thing?

Just food for thought over this season.
