In this coming offseason I was curious if Denver would be interested in the services of CB4? A Big 3 of Billups, Melo, and Bosh would be dangerous!!

So would you trade JR + Nene + possible pick = Bosh?

Denver would receive one of the top big men in the league, while Toronto gets an upgrade at the swing position and a solid replacement for Bosh. What are your thoughts? Is the draft pick needed?

I think I'd rather trade for Bargnani to pair him with Nene, LOL.

With the way Nene has been playing, I wouldn't want him traded. He's been healthy, but might be a risk counting on that continuing. The thing that helps me say no to this, is it leaves Denver without a SG. Only Jones and Weems. Just horribly, yuck.

I'd do it, but we all know Bosh is going to bolt and go to a bigger market in 2010.
For that reason, we say no.

Andrea Bargnani, Anthony Parker, Jason Kapono for J.R. Smith, Kenyon Martin, Bobcats' pick.

Raps get a great young SG and get a tough great defender. Think the Raps are lacking that, correct? Plus a possible top 5 pick.

Nuggets get a PF who plays from the outside, giving Melo and Nene more room in the post. Parker fills the void at SG, and Kapono was needed filler who can also help off the bench. Defense might be a bit (or lot worse) though, lol.

Wow that is terrible.

I'd much rather have Kenyon than Bargnani on this team. J.R. over Parker. And the Cats pick for a guy with a horrible contract? On another note, I find it hard to believe that works financially(even if it does, it would put us well over the luxury tax, another huge negative).

Denver sends out: 19.45 million.
Denver gets back: 15.7 million.

Moves the team away from the tax.

Parker is expiring. Kapono, oops, has an extra year trade checker didn't mention. So after this season he has about 13 million due over 2 years. So perhaps switch the Cats pick to the OKC 2nd or a future 1st.

Bargnani looks to finally be "breaking out" this season. Shooting well, kinda rebounding, lol.

Does leave a big hole at SG to fill in the offseason, but the team should have more flexibility at least to try and plug it. I'll admit it may not be that good, but wouldn't call it terrible.

My bad about the salary situation, I was thinking about it backwards.

Either way, you're basically looking at us trading Kenyon and J.R. for Bargnani. Yeah he is improving, but I much prefer K's defense for us as a team trying to compete than a soft big who's only real skill is shooting from long range. I also really don't see him ever turning into a star(he has about as much potential to do that as J.R. does, IMO).

The only player in that trade the interests me is Anthony Parker, but I wouldn't give up Kenyon, J.R., or the Cat's pick to get him. If anything, I say trade Kleiza/Hunter for him....plus whatever other fillers. I'm not sure we're going to be willing to resign him in the summer, so this way we could dump Hunter's contract, and also get a player who fits better for us at the moment. Kleiza seems like a Colangelo guy to me, and it could work for the Raptors because they're a young/rebuilding-ish team...Parker is an older guy who isn't in their future plans, where as Kleiza is a young forward who would fit pretty well on that team.

I would definitely like to have Parker over Jones. Is he worth renting for a year at the expense of LK though? And dumping Hunter?

The more I think about my deal, maybe no draft picks should be included. Starting to sour on it though. Still, to try and defend it.. without picks included:

What if Denver was able to follow up the trade I listed, by doing something like LK + filler to GS for Kelenna Azubuike? Good defender, shooting 46% from three.

Team looks like (if Parker isn't resigned):

Billups/(new PG damnit!)
Azubuike/Kapono
Nene/Andersen
Melo/Balkman
(TPE PF?)/Bargnani

DNP: Hunter, Weems.

Total salary: ~60 million.

Total salary this season is 69 million. If they use the TPE it goes up to 69 million for next. Should still be under the tax. Could then use the MLE to shore up SG/PG positions. I know Kapono would suck defensively as a SG, but when he is on the floor with Nene and Melo, he should be around 50% from three.

Call me crazy, but I really like the above. Maybe GS could even be convinced to add more value if Denver included Hunter and Bobcats' pick (Azubuike, M.Williams, Marco Belinelli?), or another team would give up something useful for Hunter + Bobcats' pick?

I personally don't see us resigning LK. Or rather, I think it could be a mistake to resign him at what he is likely going to cost. Who knows what we'll end up doing though, or what the market for him will be.

But with the assumption that we're not going to resign him, Kleiza for Parker would make a lot of sense IMO, as I see Parker as a better fit than LK.....then being able to dump Hunter in the process is just gravy.

Thinking smaller, how about trying to get Azubuike with LK instead of Parker?

That works too, although I like the fact that Parker is a vet(more of a team guy) and is expiring(although Azu's contract is pretty nice, looking at it now). I also think he would be easier to get than Azu, but who really knows with the way GS is being run. On top of that, actually having to trade for Azubuike would really make me depressed, considering he was on our summer league team a couple years ago and we didn't even invite him to training camp.

I'd prefer to wait until this summer and use the trade exception

You can add Rasheed Wallace and Lamar Odom to the list of potientals too.

Thing about that is....you can't combine the TPE with any other players, and the 25% rule does not apply anymore. So basically, a straight up trade for someone making 9.7 million or less is about all we can do there.

If bosh is signed to an extension, I'm all for it. Otherwise, I think thats too much to give up for a one year rental of CB.

Plus, eventhough Bosh is a better player than Nene, I don't really know if his style is what we need. Nene has given us that back to the basket, low-post player that we always needed. Bosh always seems to be happier floating around hitting mid range j's, instead of bumping down low.

Good point. On second thought, I would still be hesitant to pull the trigger even if Bosh was signed to an extension before the trade.

Nene's health is still a concern, but I agree it changes the dynamic of the team a bit. Makes the defense worse, and turns us back into a perimiter team. Plus it destroys our salary situation again (assuming Bosh is signd to a max deal) and leaves little room to fill in the remaing holes in the lineup that would be created with Nene and Jr's departure.

Just considering that LK is a Nellie type of PF/SF, they might be interested? And getting Azu means the depth at SG should be good for a few years at least. With Parker, who knows? Then it could be back to having a d-leaguer playing too much.

I would love this deal: Hunter, LK, Jones, Bobcats' pick for Kelenna Azubuike, C.J. Watson, Marco Belinelli. Cut AC, let Watson play and learn under Billups.

SG/SF Rotation: Melo, JR, Azubuike + Balkman and Belinelli (both getting minutes whenever Karl feels like playing them).
