Who scares you in the postseason???
I'm taking an unscientific poll of all possible WC playoff teams. Who would you hate to see your team draw in the first round (if you make it) and why? Are some teams just too good? Do you match up bad with some teams? Who scares you . . .
As a Blazer fan these are teams I'd love to avoid (top being the most scary). *Note - I'm copying this word for word on all 9 teams forums. I'm not trying to flame anyone!
1. Spurs - too good for us, too experienced, and we've yet to play them when they're at full strength.
2. Lakers - they'd probably win - especially with home court - but I'd rather watch the LA/PDX rivalry get reborn than a slow, boring, sobering series with SA.
3. Rockets - just a bad match-up for us and I really don't want to watch Artest going at Roy for a whole series.
4. Mavs - Same as Rockets, bad match-up. Kidd would abuse Blake and Sergio.
5. Hornets - I'd love to beat these guys, but they have us in the experience category, they have an MVP caliber PG, and David West plays great against us. This is probably the team I would hate to lose to the most and we are definitely capable of losing to them.
6. Jazz - I think we could beat Utah, especially if we had homecourt. And if we do play them it will have that rivalry feel, Roy could end all that "better/worse than Deron" talk once and for all, and if we did knock them out of the playoffs it would be extreeeeemely satisfying.
7. Suns - No Amare, no problem. Shaq is playing out of his mind right now, but with a healthy Oden this would be a very fun series!
8. Nuggets - The only thing that worries me about this matchup is Chauncey's playoff experience. Luckily I think we are a much better team and we can make Chauncey a non-factor. Mostly I just think we are better than them, period.
So what will it be Nugs? Who you scared of???

I'd be scared against any West team except Portland... too young, Brandon Roy is a mature leader, but his whole team would be pissed scared in the playoffs. Without Oden, it would be piece of cake.

Every team scares me now. Karl seems to get worse as the season goes on.
I have no faith this team will win in the playoffs, unless they can somehow overcome his inability to coach during games. That ain't Karl hate, its just fact.

1st Tier: Lakers, Spurs
2nd Tier: Jazz, Rockets, Hornets
3rd Tier: Blazers, Suns, Mavs
I'm pretty confident we could take any one of those 3rd tier teams in a series. Teams in the 2nd tier scare me a little bit, but we'd have a pretty solid chance. If we end up facing the Lakers or Spurs, it's going to get ugly.

This.
The Mavs, Blazers, and Suns would all be guaranteed 1st round wins. I think we're capable of beating any of the teams in tier two, especially with homecourt, but it'd still be a tossup. Right now I can't see us beating either the Lakers or Spurs in a seven game series.

Guaranteed? That is bold. Obviously I'd disagree, but I like your . . . enthusiasm. I was just checking out the schedule I think we could have one of the most exciting ends to a season ever. How about Denver @ Portland, last game of the season to determine both the division title AND home court in the playoffs? That would be sweeeet.

Re: Who scares you in the postseason???
Lakers and Spurs - we might have a chance of getting one game against them, theyre in a tier above everyone else in the West right now.
Rockets, Hornets and Jazz (to a lesser extent if we got homecourt) - definitely need to bring our a game to win a series against these teams. With Chaunceys experience, they should be able to grind out a few more games than they have in previous years.
Blazers, Suns and Mavs - I think we get up over these teams in a 7 game series, but we cant take it easy or else we drop another series we shouldve won

So true, but what does the rookie of the Year have to do with Deron?
Deron is a seasoned vet, and seriously better than any rookie. Besides, Derick Rose is better than any rook the Jailblazers have on their roster.
Is this the twilight zone?

So you basically come on a Nuggets board and tell us we are push overs and don't scare you a bit according to your list. What a peckerhead.

Everyone. We have been booted out the last 5 or so years in the first round so I guess we should be worried about any team we face, especially considering how strong the West is.

Considering the Nuggets have taken 2 of 3, with the only Portland win coming in Portland at the end of a 4 game in 5 night run for the Nuggets, I would think that the team is a little more worried about the Nuggets then some random ignorant poster.

I am not sure about this, but wasn't that one of the games that Melo was out with an elbow injury early in the year?
