Dallas next - aka won't be surprised if they upset us

Dallas hmmm...
6th seeded right? I think not. They're playing great, playing very well. They're maybe the most underrated team in the playoffs. Actually entering the playoffs, I feared them the most right after the Lakers.
Factors:
- Defense - good, could almost be categorized as very good especially at home,
- Josh Howard, has been nothing short of spectacular in playoffs... considering the down season he had, he gets it done once again, actually looking like an all star, perhaps most important Mav... knocks down one-on-one shots and his defense is back to once it was.
- JJ Barea, say all you want about Barea but he's been great, he can get it done on both ends, he's gritty, tough, and plays all out, if you can take charges against full speed Tony Parker, you can take charges against anybody. His playmaking is also underrated he can actually penetrate at will and with his small frame people think it's hard for him to find open men, but he repeatedly finds open Josh Howard, Terry even Kidd for three.
- JKidd - his offense is not needed (although his three pt shooting is very good in the playoffs), but it's his quarterbacking, when the Mavs run, he will find them. Fastbreak, the Mavs let Kidd make decisions. Half court sets, it's either Josh Howard, Barea or Nowitzki and Terry. When Barea controls, he finds open men, and Kidd can shoot open jumpers now all of a sudden, he is a great compliment to these Mavs now.
- Terry - automatic 20 ppg off the bench
- Nowitzki - still can't be stopped.
- Carlisle - is letting his players play, known to be control freak, he's letting his players play in the playoffs, they're now listening to him and he coaches better
- Dampier - big body, if they decide to send him to box our big men out, we'd be in big time trouble.
- Lastly, this is what I fear most, they now seem to play with swagger, they seem to think, "Hey JKidd trade is not bad after all, we're clicking now, even if it takes damn 1.5 seasons, we're CLICKING NOW. We can do this. We're also the underdogs every series from now on, let's just play, nothing to lose, Cuban has paid our salaries for this season, we play as well as we've played we can go far."
Man, seriously, I fear these Mavs, I still think we're going to win, but if the Nuggets take them lightly they're in for a huge surprise. Hope it does not happen. I still love my Nugs don't get me wrong fellas.

And yet here you are, advancing us to the second round after three wins in the first round.

premature.
but anyways...
our physicality will throw them off.
our defense is statistically and visually better.
you think they're clicking? we've won 15 of our last 16 home games and just beat a 49 win team by 58 points, on their court.
they play three point guards for big minutes. dirk is still a softie. josh howard still has ankle problems, and they'll be more of an issue guarding melo than they were guarding michael finley.
we beat them without melo this season. and without nene on their court to break a 9 game home win streak by them.
they'll be closer games, but if we come with thee focus we have in games 1, 2 and 4....mark cuban will be donating a lot of money to charity over the next 2 weeks.

Seriously, snake you can't be a Nuggets fan.
You want to get rid of Melo because he smiles, you want to trade Nene for Noah, and now you overlook how great Denver has been playing to say you won't be surprised if Dallas wins.

Best way to look at it is.....New Orleans, Dallas......easiest route as opposed to routes involving Lakers or previous years Spurs teams in the first round. This is a great platform for Denver to make a run. Sure, a beat up Spurs team might crumble easier than Dallas but then we could be facing Portland or Houston had the seeding been different.
The WCF with a possible Nuggets vs. Lakers matchup as kind of a follow up to last year's meeting just seems like destiny. Melo finally meeting LeBron in the finals would be a dream matchup. The fact that Denver needs to go through Kobe to get there makes this whole run exciting.
But, however the road goes, this by no means is an ugly road through the playoffs for this Nuggets team. If these players are ready, I'm ready to believe they can do it. After the 58 pt win, it's helped a lot lending credibility to the Nuggs. A lot of potential turned over to reality in that game.
Win #4 is still needed tomorrow, and we'll see. I'm sure a lot of Mark Cuban vs. J.R. Smith will surface.

Thing is Mavs are well hidden. People look at them, they just beat an "injury-riddled" Spurs. But make no mistake, the Spurs are a well coached team, the fashion they beat the Spurs, on the road, is quietly convincing.
Yet people still overlook them? Why? Because most of the seasons they did not look like making the playoffs, let alone playoffs contenders. People see them in the second round and think "well the Spurs are injured." True that, but the Spurs are also well coached and still could stifle teams. Against normal 6th seeded teams, they would win. Most of the season the sucked, towards early March on they started to click and when they won games people think they're just hot but would be an early exit again.
I think not, these Mavs are very tough. I am not overlooking the Nuggets either, but if people think Nuggets are going to win in 4/5 games, it's not happening. It's not the Nuggets, it's the Mavs.

No I don't doubt they're tougher than the regular season, but then again we went 4-0 against them in regular season. There's much more to it. I would say Nuggets are battle-worthy vs. Dallas at worst.

i dont think so. spurs were ready to fall down, they just needed a little shove. pop even said they werent going anywhere without manu. they can't score enough to win a series. dallas beating them in 5 was expected.

You say my Mavs team beat a banged up Spurs team, but is New Orleans not also banged up? Is Chandler, Peja, and Posey 100%? Did New Orleans end the season playing well? The way I remember it, New Orleans made the playoffs because Utah played worse down the stretch that they did. Denver is beating a two man team just like the Mavericks beat a two man team. Im not saying that the Mavericks are going to beat Denver, but I think yall are getting a little carried away with your team.

I know this is the playoffs and the season doesnt matter anymore but we swept Dallas 4-0 in the regular season this year
Melo scored 28, 23, 43 in three of them and he didnt even play in one of them

Isn't the title of this thread specifically about our team losing this series? I wouldn't call that "getting carried away." But ya know, whatever floats your boat.

Maybe you should go over to the Mavs board and jump on their bandwagon. It's playoff time and right now the Nuggets are playing very well. They are playing D, hustling, scrapping, and usually pretty efficient offensively so far. Yes, it's going to be a very tough series, the Mavs have gotten healthier and stepped up their game. That wasn't your "dad's" Spurs...no Ginobil, Bruce Bowen is not Bruce Bowen anymore. They couldn't match up against Barea and Howard especially trying to double Dirk... The Nugs have home court, it's not a bad match up for the Nuggets. So it's going to be very tough... the playoffs should be... but if you are a Nuggets fan...try to have a little faith...I know I am not always positive (as Shady would attest) but it's playoff time and for the first time in a long time...we are in a position to win a series and are being the bully for the 1st time ever!!!

I think right now after the last five years, we deserve to show some emotion and happiness...I don't think anyone on the this board is "dissing" the Mavericks. I think it will be a very tough series, most of their team has gone to an NBA final series, they are much healthier now, and beat a Spurs team that was weakened (like the Hornets are too) but did what they were suppose to do.
Let's Go Nuggets!!!!!!!!!!
