Mark Cuban is completely classless, K-Mart's mom harrassed

I've always been a Mark Cuban fan. I have I think he owns his team for the right reasons, not for making money at all costs, which is refreshing. This series has pretty much ended that for me.

Mark Cuban (and drunken idiots who are lemmings to whatever he does) were the cause of K-Mart's mom being harassed in the stands, according the TNT crew. Even those guys were saying that Cuban should have apologized for being completely and totally in the wrong after Game 3. He didn't. He tried to be a tough guy (just like he was after Game 3 when he pushed a cameraman and yelled at an old lady). The drunken idiots make K-Mart's family (who did nothing to be part of this) part of the back and forth of the playoff series.

Ruffian, of course, essentially being a bully. Picking on cameramen and old ladies because you know those are the only people you can pick on? Sounds like a bully to me.

Because in any competition, a mans family is off limits. If they are not directly involved in the action then you allow them to sit in their seats and enjoy the game.

As for being surprised, yes as a man I could never go after someone's mother, or someones wife and child that were sitting near me in the stands, and I would not allow anybody around me to do it either. .

Mark Cuban put her into the context of a heated playoff series when she did nothing to deserve that, refused to even pretend remorse, and she got berated and harassed by fans because of it. Did anyone catch the conversation the TNT crew had before the game about this situation? Apparently instead of an apology Mark said something like KMart's mom can sit next to me anytime. Kenny Smith said why would she want to do that. Barkley said he owes her an apology, and CWebb said the family needs to be left out of it.

I guess being able to sit next to him was apology enough in his eyes.

An Apology to Kenyon Martin’s Mom

It started as a smart ass comment that I know that no one heard. How do I know, because there was a reporter right there next to me, as well as other people who saw the whole thing and didnt hear a word of it.

But at this point, that has become irrelevant. It doesnt matter why I said it. I shouldn’t have said anything. Now, the reality is that this has gotten out of hand.

When tempers and such start impacting the fan experience both in Dallas and Denver, and it requires special security, thats not what I want for Mavs or Nuggets fans. No one takes more abuse and gets more threats on the road than I do. So I know exactly how it feels. I’ve also had my family and friends spit on at games in this series. So I know how unpleasant that is as well. It’s a dirty secret that all arenas need to do a better job of protection for visiting team fans, particularly during the playoffs.

So at this point I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on.

When the series comes back to Dallas, your family, and the family of other Nuggets players are welcome to stay in my suite, with my family. Its amazing how tempers mellow when real people talk to each other and realize that its still just a game.

If that isn’t acceptable, I’m happy to provide a suite, free of charge to them as well and place whatever security is needed to make them feel comfortable.

We tried to have enough additional security for them tonight as well, but I know your family and friends didn’t feel as comfortable as they should. I apologize for that as well. This arena is my responsibility, we could and should do a better job.

So if we can put this behind us, I will make sure when the series comes back to Dallas, your family and friends, and that of your teammates are very comfortable at our Arena.

Then I hope we both take the advice of your coach and can get together this summer. Dinner for you and your family is on me.

He is a fake individual who always after doing something wrong tries to buy his way out of it. Remember the I will donate 25k to whatever charity JR wants me to donate it to, and then in the next game he is wanting to fight him again. Now this deal with Kmart and his family he tries to buy his way out of it again. To top it off he makes his apology on twitter. Apologizing on twitter isn't an apology. IMO that apology had nothing to do with KMart or his mother and was done to save his own ass/image more than anything else.

Sounds about right. I know he was being sarcastic with JR and the donation thing, but this almost sounds legit. Of course, he's been trashed by a lot of the media for his childish acts in that game, so it could certainly be chalked up to an image repair. I highly doubt Kenyon takes him up on the offer and Cuban knows that.

Cuban has just bumped himself to #1 on my list of people I would love to box (in a ring with gloves).

Yeah man, I mean if you take into account you have to be cruel to be a thug, I don't think Kenyon's got cruelty in him anymore if he ever did. His goal is to win now. He's more of a tough defender. He probaby cares about whether he hurt someone, he just ain't gonna be huggy huggy about it.

Cuban, on the other hand, wields great power with his words and influence. Shoving the camerman out of the way indicates a bit of cruelty. Saying any kind of words to (to) anybody's mother is a kind of cruelty. He's basically a big baby with a billion dollars.

What I want to see from Cuban is to retain his own dignity (if he has any) when those fan incidents happen and call it out, don't take it out on Kenyon's mother. Seriously, how many people listen to him on Twitter and blogmaverick? Just speak out on people spitting and fan violence etc. if that is his true beef, submit complaints to the league.....

His latest response gives me hope that the man is not a complete ****, just a little too hotheaded.

If he indeed realizes that his words were what has sparked all the trash talking, bottle throwing, etc.....then maybe he won't do it again. Is he smart enough to learn from his mistakes? time will tell.

I used to support Cuban due to his fire and passion, but this was a black eye for the league. Hopefully he realizes, as Charles Barkley had to, that he is indeed a "role model" and people will mimic the behavior that they see. Time to grow up.

However, I do sincerely hope that Denver fans will take the high road, be classy and respectful to the Dallas team and coaches. No two wrongs ever make a right. Besides, we're going to kick their ass in game 5 anyway.
