Denver Nuggets vs. LA Lakers Game 4

Post#1 » by legendarywalton » Sun May 24, 2009 5:30 am

Activate either a) Steven Hunter or b) Sonny Weems and hack the **** out of Kobe. The NBA has declared that this will be Lebron v Kobe, and it is time to take away the Central Office's ability to dictate the game.

Nuggets need to start Anthony Carter at the point, and switch Billup to shooting guard.
Screw Dohntey Jone. Guy plays like chit. AC does a better job on Kobe.

I got a feeling that the Lakers will take this one.

Lakers go up 3-1 and close it in 5 games.

Either way it's going to be a war out there

It'll be another close game for sure. The Lakers proved that they could win in Pepsi Center.

I don't feel like that's a very constructive comment. If everyone knows that you can beat the Lakers by being physical, and the refs are taking that away from us, where does that leave us? Basketball should not be a finesse game, it should be a game of heart and determination, something the Lakers obviously don't have outside of one player that has been earmarked by the league.

Uggh. That's why they have football. Kobe's been earmarked? Sure superstars get some extra calls, they all do. However, Kobe's been butchered throughout the series, how many didn't they call?. Did you see Daunte flagrant no call Kobe on a push outta bounds that he easily could have been injured on? What about Nene undercutting Kobe and nearly ripping his leg in two ending the lakers playoff run?

Melo & Chauncey shoot FT's like they are going out of style, those are your superstars. Both teams are shooting a ton of FT's and wouldn't you agree DEN is far more physical than the LAL?

I really don't know where you are going with this, it sounds like you are just mad they lost. DEN to me told us they were ready, that they aren't the same team, they are deisciplined, that they have grown up. DEN has played well, however two games were lost on the same exact inbounds play that shouts dicipline, coaching, and execution to me.

It's DEN fault they were in foul trouble every game has a different set of officials all good teams adjust throughout the game. That's part of the game.

The LAL have yet to play a good game in this series. These games are won on Kobe, Ariza, and PAu nearly all by themselves that to me shouts heart and determination to me. Heart and Determination isn't measured by phsicality as you say it is.

as long as we give it everything we've got, i'll be happy. this team has come along way, but still has so much to learn about playoff basketball. game 3 was nothing short of dissapointing. i got the feeling they thought it was going to be an easy win because of home court.

THe lakers are getting beneficial calls it's so **** obvious. So why don't you take your ass back to the lakers board with that it's our fault we are picking up bitch fouls and techs that should never happen. The refs are so biased. My gosh.

As ineffective as Dahntay has proved himself vs. LA, changing him out is not going bring any benefits. As Legendary suggested we can use those fouls on our "extra" players. Chauncey still should be able to direct traffic with Dahntay on the floor or off. Also, AC would give a valiant effort, but is by no means a Kobe stopper or even a Kobe-slower.

Game 3 came down to decision making and there were just way too many "I'm gonna shoot early in the clock and sink the dagger" thoughts by JR, Melo, Billups. I would think the dagger is just too unwieldy if it's too heavy to hit 19 times. Use the smaller dagger, the 2.

Even mid-rangers by Melo, JR, Chauncey (Not Kenyon and Nene) would have been more acceptable.

Kobe was probably thinking at some point..."Ok, if they want this to be a jumpshooting contest, I'll go ahead and take this trophy right now." And he did.

For as poor as the Nuggets played in games 2 and 3, it's hard to believe we split them and that both were close. We still haven't seen a complete game with the contribution from JR that has been fairly consistent all year long. And the Nuggets aren't likely to shoot as poorly as they did in game 3. So many missed open 3s. If JR gives his average contribution, Melo and Nene take better advantage of LA's soft front line, and the Nuggets play respectable defense, the series should be tied.

D Jones is not ineffective at guarding Kobe...there aren't many that can actually guard him... Battier and Artest can because the have length and size and usually are allow to play a little more physical than anyone else (DubaLaker) should even agree with that statement.

Listen, we shot the ball TERRIBLE... and we can't get the ball in on a side out of bound play again. We hit a few more shots...take it to the basket and get a few more calls.. we will be ok... should be another tight game... Come on all Nugget fans, I never thought we'd be here... we just gotta keep the support up and hope...it's not going to be easy, but championships aren't. WC champion or NBA... gotta earn it... We just didn't play well enough last game... They gotta be more aggressive...
Don't worry about refs or Stern...just play... and if we get screwed...we played our game!!!!

Let's Go Nuggets!!!!!!!!

Let Billups be the coach of Nuggets tonight!

Please, keep Carter away from the court as much as possible. And hacking Kobe is the worst possible thing you could do. He doesn't get to 40 points without 15-20 FT attempts. You must limit his FTs as much as possible and make him a jump shooter. He will make some ridiculous shots and when he does just tip your cap.

The key is keeping Kobe out of the paint and stifling the rest of the team, cause Kobe will get his numbers, just make sure he has to take an equivalent amount of shots to get them. If you can do this then you are a long ways towards beating this team.

Exploit matchups - whoever Fisher is guarding, whoever Walton is guarding, go at Ariza as he is a foul machine.... Lakers' bigs are soft, penetrate and dish. I have to say I was disappointed in Chauncey last game, is he injured? Needs to lead by example and not settle for long jumpers. Denver, if they play smart is a better ballclub and will prevail.... they can't afford to beat themselves anymore however.

Laker team is not as good as it record implies. A lot like Heat of 2006, they need the tweets to succeed. Play through the calls and exploit their porous D, limit Kobe to his jumpers and lock up the boards. Denver can win this thing!!

FYI tonight's refs are Bennett Salvatore, Kenny Mauer, and Bill Spooner so again all the more important for the Nugs to focus on controlling what they can control - their own play - and win despite the calls.

I gotta admit, I'm really **** nervous right now. Hopefully we get the smart, focused Nuggets team, not the dumb, trigger-happy, erratic team.
Lose tonight, and it's as good as over.
