Paid to much and way to long for what he can bring, especially since he will be declining by the time that deal is over. If there is such a thing.

Whats next Kleiza for the full MLE 5yrs $32.5 million? With some of these signings going on that contract would just about fit with the market right now.

Matt Barnes is a natural born loser... that's why Suns don't want him back. If we get him, maybe we'll see 3-4 fights involving him, Nene and some other teams' weak players.

The news of this major event and it will be quite the task to get used to, is somewhat devastating, but the idea of JR starting is worth a cold one or two
Indy has had Dahntay in for a look in the past if I recall correctly, I believe that he played on their NBDL team before, and is as good of an option as Daniels was for them in that role and he comes a lot cheaper. 2,750,000 is what it comes out to per season, which does seem a bit much.
I can't say that I am sorry to see him leave, but I will give him credit for bringing intensity every time that he stepped on the floor as a member of the Nuggets. Actually, it is great news imo, it means that if anything we will be about the same or improved from the sg spot.

Anybody else just find other teams and their fans comical when they get the Nuggets crap.
Last year everybody was writing off the Nuggets because they lost Camby for nothing, which actually did not hurt the nuggets as he was replaced with Birdman. The Clippers claimed they were contenders.
Nets fans were bragging all over the place when they paid najera his $12 million 4 year deal.
Bucks fans were all over the place when they Stole Boykins from us, while sending us an expiring in Blake and saving us from the luxury tax.
Dallas fans had Buckner as their starting Sg for the next 4 years when they stole him from us.
And now Jones gets a 4 year $11 million deal, and Pacers fans are claiming that they know more then we do about him, and it is a steal.
Over the last few years we have lost several players who played large roles in Denver only to watch them go fall on their face elsewhere. The funniest thing is we constantly hear how Melo does not make anybody better, and everybody on our team is overrated. When do they start to learn, Denver's role players only do one or two things well usually, and the team has a habit of finding their perfect roles, once they leave they cannot do anything else, and become busts. Meanwhile our top players are the ones that really make the team work.

Pacer fan here. It has been amusing to read posts from both teams on this one. I must admit you can throw up an impressive litany of role players who built credibility in Denver and signed relatively lucurative free agent contracts somepace elsewhere and then failed to meet expectations. Is that a testiment to Karl and his ability to get something out of these guys others can't?
As a fan you have to optomistic and I think there is some logic for it in this case. I haven't spent much time watching Jones but from comments he is at worst a willing defender and at best a lockdown defender. Even the worst case scenario will be welcome in Indiana. Secondly and maybe most important there will be minutes for him. A trap alot of bench rotation guys fall into is a set of circumstances where through no fault of his own the minutes aren't there. As the Pacers are constructed now he is the third wing in a rotation with Granger and Rush until Dunleavy gets back. That means early on he could get 25 to 30 minutes a game. A great opportunity for him.

That 25-30 minutes better have Danny Granger making up for a missing player on offense.

Scoring (at least last year) was rarely a problem for the Pacers. That should get better this year as Rush and Hibbert get more time. Both are capable scorers. At some point Dunleavy will return and he is a very good offensive player. If Jones can be a solid defender this acquisition should look fine a year from now.

It is not so much that Karl is so good at finding roles, it is that our front office is good at digging up players to fill roles, while Karl will allow those players to play their roles. Karl is more of an old school coach in that he is damn hard on his stars, expecting a ton more from them and giving them a shorter leash, while the role players are allowed to play through and find their proper role. In the end it works out as they have very little pressure and defenses focus on the stars allowing them to grow full into their roles.

I can understand the need for a guy like Jones, I just don't understand why a 4 yr deal for just under $3 million per. There were better options out there for just around the same money, or I would think Jones probably would be worth the LLE for 2 years, but those last 2 years are just killer.
