Nuggets Summer League 4-1
We're kicking off our Summer League Season tonight at 8:00 PM MTN against the Spurs.
The Spurs are already 1-0, beating the Hornets squad 92-86 on Sunday. George Hill dropped 25, while DeJuan Blair got a double double - 13 and 10.
What do you think our starting line-up should be? I think we should go with this -
C - CJ Giles
PF - Cedric Simmons
SF - Ronald Dupree
SG - Sonny Weems
PG - Ty Lawson
Bench - Coby Karl, Kareem Rush, Richard Hendrix, Derrick Byars.

15$ subscription at NBA.com will let you watch all the games, but I'm sure there is someone broadcasting it for free at justintv or something.

Coby Karl is a solid.
Lawson is smart and can drive, but can't hit anything.
Weems is ****.

So we lost. Coby Karl and Dupree kept us in the game. Hendrix has some decent post-up moves, but a horrible FT shooter. Lawson is FAST, but he couldn't get a single shot to go down, made all his FT's however. Weems sucked completely, nothing was going right for him. Ian Mahimi got a triple-double - 12 pts, 16 boards and 10 fouls.

Re: Nuggets Summer League 0-1 (vs Wizards 8:30 MTN July 15th)
I was impressed from what I saw of Lawson. The shooting isn't so important, that'll come. I really liked the way he ran the team though....his ability to get in the paint and find the open man is amazing. He's got Chauncey like vision, only at 10x the pace. That'll be so great to have this year.
Coby looked pretty damn impressive. He'd be a nice fit because he can play both guard spots....so we wouldn't have to worry about having two third string guards. It's also nice to have a guy who is tall like him with PG ability. As long as Karl doesn't overplay him, I'd like to have him at least in training camp.

Here's the Post recap and box score. Weems was 2-16 shooting. I honestly think the guy will never see meaningful NBA minutes. His head seems to be rather permanently placed up his ass.

Re: Nuggets Summer League 0-1 (vs Wizards 8:30 MTN July 15th)
Weems was awful. GK said as the game was going on that he doesn't need another scorer and that was all Weems was trying to do. A more idiotic version of JR Smith (if that's possible).
Coby Karl=sick I was skeptical of his spot for obvious reasons but he turned it on. 19 pts and missed only one shot, really impressive. Possible 3rd string SG if Weems keeps playing this bad and Coby stays consistent.
Hendrix I thought looked nice with a few moves down low. We don't have a true low post scorer as all our bigs face up and attack the ring with their athleticism. Having a banger down low would spread the floor nicely and would allow Billups, Carmelo and JR to create for the 10 or so minutes Drix could play if he's lucky.
Ty Lawson looked promising. He is a blur from baseline to baseline and just had trouble finishing at the ring, nothing to be too worried about.
Draper was a surprise to be on the roster and used to play for the Kings in Australia and was a star. He is real quick and had 4 thefts. Possible third string Pg instead of AC hopefully.

We beat the Wizards 77-70. Weems came back and had a decent game, getting a double-double - 17 and 11. He still couldn't finish a lot of times on the fast break and couldn't hit the J, most of his fg's were dunks and lay-ups. Lawson went 1-for-8, a breakaway dunk, but had 4 assists. Karl, Dupree, Hendrix and Giles all did decent and had 10-11 points.

Giles looked real good. Active big man ho rebounded and blocked shots. He is a touch under 7' but I think he could be very serviceable.

Wow. Lawson is shooting the ball amazingly poorly.

I'd like every player except Simmons and Rush at the training camp.
All of them show something great.

For anyone watching this game I'd like to hear an impartial opinion about Bayless.

Bayless's easily the most talented player on the floor, speed, hops, caught alley oop pass and dunked it with two hands... I think his head should be on the rim... but appeared to go down on a leg cramp... shouldn't be serious.
Lawson also finished a fast break

I was extremely impressed by Lawson by the way. I couldn't believe he ended up in Denver, it was a steal for you guys.
