Nuggs to get M. Allen for Weems & Sharpe

I know it's been rumored, and not really believed, but now it's reported on Denver Post...

The rumored deal with just Weems for Allen didn't make much sense. Well I mean....we'd basically be trading a guard who will never play for a big who will never play, so it wasn't all bad....but Allen makes nearly twice as much as Weems. So that aspect was a little odd.

With it being Sharpe and Weems, we'll actually able to save some money in this deal, while getting a (****) big, and opening up an additional roster spot(that will have to be filled out in some way, and anything is better than Sharpe).

Judging from Bucks fans' reaction to this trade, it may end up being a pretty damn good move for us.

All I can think about while reading their responses is the Boykins/Blake trade from a couple years ago. They all hated Blake with a passion and called him the worst basketball player on the planet. He then went on to become our starting PG, have a great second half to the season, and earn a big contract with Portland. Let's hope for deja vu.

I don't think we were ever going to see Weems play in Denver, so adding a little depth up front is a good thing. Basically a no impact move, most likely.

I can't believe how many Nuggets fans are softening to the idea of adding Coby Karl to fill out the roster. I don't care how nice of a summer league he had. George Karl is horrible at playing favorites with crappy players, and it will only be worse if Coby is on the team. I want nothing to do with him in Denver.

save money... get backup big. sounds fine here. he has a decent mid range j too.

coby karl is an over played player wanting to happnen. Bearup wouldn't support it... IMO. Ah the front office behind the scenes is a huge soap opera. who knows.

I actually think Weems deal is only partially guaranteed, so the Nuggets don't save money here, the Bucks do (assuming they waive Weems), but it's only minimal either way, $400,000 or so. The Bucks need every penny they can save so they can match a Sessions offer.

Weems + Sharpe = 1.47 million
Allen = 1.3 million

1.3 < 1.47

I realize Weems' deal is only partially guaranteed, but it's not like we were going to cut him anyway. And I'd much rather have Malik Allen then Walter Sharpe.

I'm guessing this deal has to be a two part trade to work. Sharpe can't be traded with another player until September 13th. It will probably end up looking something like this

Weems for Allen followed by Sharpe for a conditional 2nd round pick

Obviously the front office is not interested in Amir, after all I am sure we were offered the chance to get him for the TPE prior to him being traded for a partially guaranteed contract.

As for a pick, there is really not much reason for them to throw in a pick, we are after all lowering our payroll, and getting rid of a guy who has a blown out Knee, with the cost being a former 2nd round pick that has not shown to be able to actually play in the league. The fact we added another veteran bigman where we desperately need depth is just a bonus to me.

And it clears a roster spot for the Nuggets to add Coby Karl

ahh I just learnt that we moved 800k closer to the lux tax.

good move i guess... 1.3 is a good expiring as well (to add with Hunter).

It means that we'll add Coby who is better than Weems and Sharpe.

Or why not Thomas? Use Hunter, add some other players, and Bucks save money, Nuggets get real depth.

This is a **** trade... I've seen Malik Allen "game", there's nothing to be excited about. He's a veteran yes but heck there are many many veteran free agent PFs.

You seriously can't get anything more out of Bucks who just gave up RJ for scraps? How about Gadzuric? Or even Bogut? Or at least Amir.

I'd have rather held onto Weems and Sharpe. Surely Allen's "production" isn't anything worth trading for, even if Weems is more likely to be a Julius Hodge than a J.R. Smith.

There are many many free agent PFs... Drew Gooden not getting offers and won't consider a veteran minimum to join a contender? I don't think money is important to Drew, it's the feeling of being wanted.

It's a trade yes so it's not like we signed Allen... but by trading for him, the FO is deciding we're "almost set" at frontcourt which is a joke... Allen does not give us depth whatsoever besides probably 6 fouls.

The only thing I can think of, why the FO would do this trade is that they have a 2nd deal set... or are preparing for another deal.

I honestly can not see the money stingy FO doing a money costing move (we lose money when a 12th man is signed) in which they get a completely useless **** in Allen.

Another deal is on the way... hopefully it involves a big that can rebound and play good post D (Foster?) or a jump shooting big (Murphy?) heading this way.

OOohhh man I'm so excited we traded for Malik Allen!! This is it baby it pushes us over the top!!! I'm confident Allen is the missing puzzle and will be a difference maker vs Lakers, Spurs. WOOOOO our off season is done.
