The Nuggets are still in negotiations with free-agent forward Wally Szczerbiak, a source told the Denver Post.
Szczerbiak could fill the void left behind by Linas Kleiza, who left the team and signed with Olympiakos of Greece this month.
Denver is currently hovering near the $69.9 million luxury tax line, but they still need to sign two players heading into the 2009-10 season.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/239324-breaking-news-nuggets-close-to-signing-szczerbiakReports have surfaced out of Denver that the Nuggets are close to signing unrestricted free agent Wally Szczerbiak to a one-year deal worth $1.3 million.
This move will make Szczerbiak the back up small forward and the new sixth man to replace Linas Kleiza, who bolted for Europe.
The Denver bench will now consist of Lawson and Anthony Carter playing at the PG position, Arron Afflalo at SG, Szczerbiak at SF, Malik Allen and Renaldo Balkman at PF, and Chris "Birdman" Anderson at center.
Missing from the bench is J.R. Smith, who will now be inserted as the team's starting SG.
Still, the Nuggets need to add one more player to make the 13-player minimum roster. That addition will most likely be either Coby Karl, or a trade involving one of their trade exemptions for a big man.
Possible big men I could see Denver targeting are Jeff Foster of Indiana, Marc Gasol of Memphi, or Aaron Gray, a restricted free agent from Chicago.
Stay tuned for the confirmation of the Szczerbiak signing.1.3 mil? Great deal

I'll wait to be excited once it happens. Not a bad deal though, if it can be done.

Seems awfully cheap. What can the Nuggs offer any FA? Sorry, I haven't paid attention to whether you've signed anyone this summer or not. If not, I'm guessing you have the MLE and the LLE available?

We have 2.2M of the MLE, and the LLE left.
I'm hoping that remaining 2.2 goes to Steve Novak, and the LLE goes to Aaron Gray (Bulls will probably match, but if they sign it then they'll move over the luxury tax).

novak is a one trick pony and gray is nothing more than a big body. both guys would seem to be lucky to land min. guaranteed deals. and people get on me for some of the top international talent i suggested signing for less.
Of course guys like Gortat cashed in and didn't deserve it... so who knows.

Well who is left?
Apart from some unproven International players who don't have the balls to play in the summer league.
