Big Z?

The Cavs were trying to land a mobile 4 this off season and failed to do it. I may have said this before but K-Mart would seem to be a good fit. Against the Lakers we certainly could have used Ilgauskas. The deal that works is Big Z and Gibson for Kmart. Does it make sense for the Nuggets and would the Cavs do it?

Having watched the Orlando series the deal would seem to make sense for the Cavs considering the Shaq trade.

If we're in rebuilding mode, sure.

Z is done. Kenyon is much more valuable to us for what we need.

I don't think Big Z is done yet. Not completely anyway. He's not very mobile or a great rebounder, but his shooting is still very nice.

However, K-Mart still brings more to the Nuggets than Big Z would. The Cavs would probably like it, but I don't think the Nuggets would, unless they're going to rebuild as said above.

NO

Kmart is arguably the best defender of the team, and you want to trade him for another old slow big
his mobility & post D is great asset to the team

well you get to move Nene to PF. In addition to signing Wally the FO could use the trade exception on Nick Collison to sure things up in the front court.

I think the cavs want a mobile 4 with a reliable outside shot also. Judging from the trade boards the Cavs fans only want to trade Z if he's getting bought out and returning to Cleveland. As far as the trade goes, it would hurt losing Kmart's D, but it would also help adding Z's shooting. I'm just not really sure Z is mobile enough to get up and down the floor at the pace we play at. While it would be nice to turn KMart into a useable expiring contract, I think I'd pass on the offer.

AS my 3 year old son likes to say, this is a bad idea.

I actually think its relatively sensible for both sides. Going from Kenyon to Z hurts our perimeter defense and PnR defense, but helps us in everything else. Z helps us spread the floor, is significantly better on the boards, allows Nene to slide back to PF, and gives us more of a post presence.

K gives the Cavs an athlete to run with Lebron and probably the best PnR defender in the league.....the one thing that destroyed them in the playoffs. With Varejao/Shaw on the squad, there are more meaningful minutes for Kenyon than Z.

If we did this trade we would have our "halfcourt" type rotation revolving around Chauncey/Flalo/Z and then our "transition" team revolving around Ty/JR/Bird with Melo and Nene easily able to fit in to either. The one thing we would need from this trade is somewhere to ship Gibson for a mediocre PF.

You've got to have thick skin if you want to post trades on message boards. I try to be reasonable for both sides in a deal but regardless someone is going to think the OP is nuts or way off base. One example comes to mind where the talent going back and forth is reasonable yet one set of posters thinks their team is going to sign some max contract player the next summer... when it is very debateable with the lowering of the cap if the team will even have the room... and if the players in question would even consider going there. And when trades generally happen a lot of fans aren't always so approving... so suggesting trades on a message board is anything but a clear science.
