Need the help of Nugget fans

Post#1 » by Ace626 » Sun Nov 29, 2009 12:44 pm

Im writing an article on Carmelo ( my first official article ) , due to the fact that his always been one of my favorite players. My article is going to be on how Carmelo is soon getting on the same level as Lebron,Wade and Kobe , if his not already there.

I need YOU guys to tell me why
Give me examples of how Carmelo has improved this year and how he deserves to be in the same talk as Lebron and Kobe.

Ill make sure to post a link to the article once done

Uhhm... He's basically the same player from last season, except without a busted elbow, hence his scoring has gone up.

I guess he's a better player 'mentally' and playing with more confidence. He's gotten to the foul line more often and shoots a higher % there. His FG% and ppg has gone up... but that's expected, considering he's been doing that for 2-3 consecutive years before 08-09.

I wouldn't put him on Lebron level... he's way above everyone right now. However, if it's MVP talk (best player on best team) then he's up there.

Funny because Melo has been criticized for his all-round game throughout his career, and the year he actually focuses on that aspect and not his O, he falls off the map (not making All-Star game etc). Now this year he ups his ppg because he's healthy... and his 'all round game' drops off a little. All of a sudden he's a legit MVP candidate.

I guess it's the General Board's fascination with stats.

Thanks for the information
Yeah i agree , It seemed like last season Carmelo was never able to get in a rhythm due to the injurys he had.

def mention his off-season dedication. i can't remember the name of the guy but melo hired some prestigeous basketball coach to work with him a couple of hours everyday no matter where he was.

This year, i personally think he looks a little slimmer and stronger then last year. Like eathy said his elbow isn't bothering him like it was pretty much all last year which has increased his aggressiveness.

As for being on the same level as kobe and Lebron, he isn't quite there but he is def top 5 player in the nba now which could not be said truthfully till this year.

He seemed to just have a lot to process. Not only the injury, but the wear and tear from the summer olympics and nonstop action for several years. People sometimes say he doesn't work hard, I just think he takes on a lot of work, and/or he's scoring 30 points, pulling down 10 rebounds some nights, dishing out assists when it works. He is a grinder and will grind on anything you put in front of him. Just because he carries a heavy burden doesn't mean he's not a superstar.

He gets hacked a lot and the thing that has allowed him to take that next step is he's learning he needs to roll with the blows, called or not, and still defend, score, pass and rebound no matter how many bruises he has. There is still work to be done even after a bad call.

It has been wait for all of us to see him really working towards his full potential. I must say he spent his past summer very effectively & what has led him there was success he tasted and believing that you can even surpass even further!

People influence people no kidding, Billups coming over to settle things down & bringing team approach to the game & Kobe's close relationship had Melo recognize & embrace what it takes to be a winner & the leader. Loss to the Lakers in WCF plus the last year's success on top of Olympic gold medal experience were more than enough to motivate him. Guy had it with him BUT the trigger was to want it more & believing in it. It is much improved Melo we are seeing today both physically & mentally.

You should do some research on all the Melo does off the court. That would be a change of pace. I remember at one point a couple of years ago he was on the celeb. top 10 list with donation and such. That stuff would be nice to point out also since he has the thug image.
