New Orleans Arena----------------

Denver Nuggets (19-7, first in the Northwest, second in the West)
New Orleans Hornets (11-13, fourth in the Southwest, tenth in the West)

Random Tidbits:

Carmelo Anthony is first in the NBA in scoring, averaging 30.7 ppg.

Chris Paul is second in the NBA in assists, averaging 10.9 apg.

Luckily, with Billups on the shelf, the Nuggets put in their lockdown defensive PG.

Mr. 21 catches in a game loves him some Nuggets.

What happened last time these teams met in New Orleans?

Great thread.
Federica looks way to good to be stopped

but Chris Paul might have something to say about it though
That 21 catch game was crazy, Marshall was straight beastin'. Too bad it had to be against Manning otherwise i can't see us losing with him dominating so hard.
It will be interesting to see how Lawson handles the newly added pressure of Billups being out. I have a dark feeling that AC will start (please let me be wrong) with Lawson getting the bulk of the mins.
Paul vs Lawson should be very fun to watch. Hopefully Melo/Jr play as they did against Houston and we won't have to worry about them.
Also i wish we would sport some old retro skyline jerseys every once in a while. The Houston ones were badass.

Sounds like it's pretty much a lock that AC starts (see Billups thread). I wish we had Chauncey, because he's just way too strong and big for CP3 to guard, but we have other major matchup advantages. K-Mart owns David West. Peja generally has to guard Melo, at least until Posey comes in. We should see Melo get off to a good start.

Ya i just noticed the AC starting thing right after i posted. Kinda sucks but owell, hopefully he does get into foul trouble early and we don't have to put up with too much of his nonsense.

New Orleans opened as one point favorites, but that seems to be moving in the Nuggets' direction, as its a pick 'em on most books currently.

won't surprise me one bit if the hornets win. in fact i expect it.
the line is huge bait for square bettors to place money on denver, despite billups being out. and when there's easy plays, the books walk away with the money.
new orleans has all the motivation, its a friday night home game, denver's left a lot to be desired on the road. teams looking for playoff revenge generally have the edge (think denver vs. lakers earlier this season).

Against a crafty player like CP3, it won't surprise me if Ty is the one in early foul trouble. He will get the rookie treatment from the refs like he did against Stuckey and like he has all season long, especially against an all-star like Paul.
Gotta have another big game from JR to pick up Billups' absence. AA should see more time too with some minutes going to JR at point. Hopefully Nene climbs out of his marshmallow. Go nugss

He's day-to-day, and questionable for tonight's game, although it's pretty much guaranteed he sits. I'd anticipate him missing 2-3 games at minimum.

Two games it's looking like. He hopes to return next Wednesday.

I'd just assume he sits an extra game or two to make sure. Groin injuries are so easy to tweak, and have hamper him all season long.

just keeping it real.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teqdc0UDOpU81% on the nuggets right now. books don't lose these kind of plays very often.

You forget who you're talking to. Wasn't it me who convinced you to jump into the online basketball gambling game last year? Granted, it was on a "lock" of the Nuggets losing to the Lakers when they didn't, but the point remains. I wouldn't at all be surprised if the Hornets won, but that doesn't make you any less of a Negative Nancy.
We're about to see another instance of 'When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong'.

yea, and this is the exact same kind of line/game where i lost money on your suggestion.

iirc, the nuggets had lost 9 straight to the lakers, including a pounding in the playoffs, they were coming off a 3 game road losing streak followed by a 1 point home victory over the hawks. and the line was lakers -2. wtf? why so low?
nuggets beat new orleans by 58 the last time they played in new orleans. and now the game's a PK?
it's too easy to take the nuggets, even without billups. thus you know in all likelyhood the hornets will win. if i wasn't rooting for the nuggets, i'd put a bunch of money on it.

Lawson is singlehandedly destroying the Hornets.
They have absolutely no one on that roster to stop them. CP3 can't even stay in front of him.
