Rip Hamilton?

Post#1 » by Wigginstime » Fri Jan 29, 2010 3:28 am

It looks like Detroit is looking to trade Hamilton. I know denver doesn't need a SG and won't even try to pursue this; however, it an attempt to help Dumars build his championship team, would you consider:

JR + (Bird or Lawson) for
Rip + Ben

Nope.

Don't like Rip's contract and he's quite injury prone this season.

Quite injury prone? The guy has hardly missed any time at all aside from this season, and it's one season. Stupid comment.

I wouldn't touch JR Smith with a 50 foot pole either, but birdman is enticing.

no to Rip...
doesn't address our need for inside presence, either in a starter or bench role..

I wouldn't give up Ty for Rip straight up if their contracts were exactly the same. When you add in the fact that Rip is 31 and has a pretty large contract I especially wouldn't do it.

Trade Nene straight up for Rip and then J.R. for Brendan Haywood

It didn't need to be said. He's not an injury prone player, and he's in great shape.

Is Carmello Anthony an injury prone player because he's missed time this season? I'm really surprised none of you would want him, a career 45% shooter he puts up an efficient 16-20 a game. He's also a good playmaker and defender (for his size).

I agree with the point on his contract though, and he is getting older. Still, if I were a Denver fan I would be all for reuniting him with Chauncey Billups. I honestly think he could push you guys over the top. For a team that is in need of a 2 guard (JR Smith hurts you more than he helps), I'm very surprised to hear most of your responses.

The original trade Joe Dumars would never go for, because regardless of how much potential JR has, he's an idiot and not the type of player we would want on our Pistons. So much wasted talent.

Not last season, and he is a lot worse this season. Easy to say no. His game is going downward and with his age and length of contract, trading for him is an easy no.

I would love this trade and i really feel it would potentially put us over the top. Only problem is I Rip's contract. I cant see him having a high level of production for the next 4 years. for that we would probalby have to say no

He's also shooting 38% FG which in fact worst than JR.

I remember last season a Rip/JR trade was discussed in the trades board and Pistons fans called me an idiot for not accepting it... despite JR being younger, a better shooter, a better rebounder, and a slightly worst defender/passer.

Guys we better stop sneaking into Dumars cookie jar anymore  But if there is a way to get Prince would be much better i think. Guy for that 4 spot with a shooting touch & D is gooooood.

Interesting read from a Pistons fan...

One thing that also might go a long way for you guys if you traded for Rip - he's best friends with Billups....

Other guys you could have along with Rip would include Wilcox, Maxiell, Summers, and/or Kwame.

Friends or not, Denver is not going to downgrade from Jr to Hamilton. Which by all numbers and even while watching both players it is not even close. Not to mention that there is no way Denver takes on another big long term contract, without moving one of theirs, and hamilton is not worth any of the 4 big contracts that the nuggets have.

Yeah, honestly, there's zero shot of this happening.

Return to Denver Nuggets
