A lot has been said about the players that are set to hit the free agent market this summer, but there could be some big coaches available as well.
Barring an unforeseen extension, Karl's contract will run out with the Nuggets.
A well-informed source told the Journal Times that "it's slim to none" that Karl will return to Denver.

Yeah, I really don't buy it either.
That being said, it won't stop me from posing a question of which coaches would be available this offseason who would be realistic options for a contending team?

Once Karl is gone, then Carter should soon follow.
the cleansing will be complete. Camby. Kleiza. Najera. Carter. Karl. all gone.
Balk might finally get minutes.
nothing but good times ahead if this happens IMO

And I hope Dumbo is gone too because his posts advocate to hating George Karl

Replace George Karl with the great leader Bill Laimbeer, and we're set.

It didn't work so well last time we scoured the ranks of the guys who only had WNBA head coaching experience.

tbh Billups is a very good coach as well.
If this is true, we can probably promote one of the "younger assistant" coaches.

just promote AD to do the rotations and timeouts and stuff....and give billups a pay raise to handle the rest.

Brilliant idea! We could use cash to score piece in upcoming free agency! Maybe it is the plan who knows.

I think the issue is that the franchise doesn't want to commit a multi-year deal to Georgie, just to pay him to sit his ass on a sofa during the lockout.
Although I guess that's hypocritical, since that's all we pay him to do now anyway.

Well, if we are to try a rookie coach, he gets my vote.
Difference between him and Michael Cooper is Bill was the GM of the Detroit Shock team too. Say what you want about the competition in WNBA... but playing in women's league, it's not like his team was consisted of men either. He had to use what he had to get to the top and I believe they won 4 championships in the last decade.
That's still called managing and leading.
What won me over is his no-non-sense attitude, yet he's not a hard ass coach where the players ultimately lose respect for him in the end. He would not have his words not listened to, but most important is he communicates well with his players, meaning other than talking, he can also listen to them. He's a disciplinarian yet he can be easy going and honest with his players. He's a bad boy, tall one at that, players would have respect for him. And, he knows his Xs and Os and how to draw up plays.
Women competition yes, but it was still a heck of competition. I think he will transition to an NBA coach pretty easily.
