Johan Petro?

I always thought this guy was halfway decent, I mean he's big (legit 7ft), can rebound and block shots. Sure he's no Dwyane Wade in finishing around the rim, but hey, a big who can rebound and block shots well is alright. He's pretty athletic and has a good build too.

I don't really get why we needed another big when we had this guy. AFAIK he's not absolute crap and he's relatively young; he might become a decent rotational player.

In any case, I'm glad he got some PT with Kmart out. I thought a Petro - Nene frontcourt would be pretty decent (with Kmart out) since Johan's an athletic rebounder. His stats look decent enough (except for the 5 fouls), but then again I wasn't able to catch the game.

Thoughts or views on this guy? How'd he look against the Blazers?

Good post defender
Improved rebounding this year
Doesn't take stupid shots or ballhogs like Malik Allen
MUCH higher bball IQ than Balkman and Allen.
Actually 7".

Petro has put up solid numbers the last two games he's gotten significant minutes in. He's proven that he can defend in the post and rebound well. Definitely not the greatest finisher around the rim, but he's got a solid mid-range game and doesn't make the stupid mistakes Malik Allen does. We really don't need much offensive production out of him anyway. I am perfectly fine with giving him 20 minutes a game while Kenyon is out down the stretch.

whatever keeps malik allen off the court is fine with me.

he's like the AC of frontcourt players, but much much worse.
