Baseball Mogul 2007 free download.

I got this link off of Something Awful, not sure why they're Freewareing it exactly, but:

It's last year's version of Baseball Mogul (meaning rosters only go as late as 2006 opening day), but it's still neat as a free download. Apparently the link stays up until the World Series ends.

For those that don't know, Baseball Mogul is a hardcore baseball simulator that lets you simulate major league seasons and manage or micromanage franchises to your heart's content. That includes starting out in past years and simulating the league into the future.

Not everyone will enjoy it, but hey, it's free. I haven't played Baseball Mogul in years and i'm eager to screw around with it when I have free time tomorrow.

I confess to being a Baseball Mogul nerd. I have the latest version though, with fan updates for more realistic ratings. It's as in-depth as you can get for simulating a baseball franchise, right down to minor-league management.

My fantasy drafted team is stacked after trades and investing in the farm system heavily.

This team would dominate the majors for 10 years if I could keep them all under control. Unfortunately, bragging to my few hardcore baseball friends and RealGM is all I gain.

i loved mogul 06 and i think i burnt myself out on it b/c i got mogul 07 and barely played it.

the cool thing is you dont need the Cd to play you can give it to as many people as u want. so my roomate last year got a helluva lot more play with it than me.

also i was playing and all the stats got erased so i didnt know who was good or bad (other than ratings but i look certain things in players not just ratings) so that kinda got me upset and havent played since.

good game though, thing that annoyed me is i could build up a dominant KC royals team but even when they were good id still lose money unless i moved the team. so id always have to trade expensive players to make a profit

Maybe I'll give it another try tho.

This game was like digital crack for me. I had to give it up a year back when I joined a fantasy baseball league that operates the same way.

Some really weird stuff will happen with it, especially if you start it in past seasons. Somebody on the SA forums started it at 1900 and went through 2030. In his league, Aramis Ramirez is the all-time HR leader and Wilson Betemit is near the top (he's higher than A-Rod, clearly the Yankees should let him walk ).

Basically, it goes off of statistical projections and partially randomizes how good players end up being. Think of it more as a fun toy than as a perfect projector.

what they need to improve is the computer AI. i hate the way they move players in the minors, i move my players through the minors while it seems like the players on the farm for the opposing teams play in A for 5 years and get moved up and just go from there.

I'm 3 months (80 games) through my first season:

- A-Rod has 6 HRs and 28 SBs
- Tony Clark leads the league in HRs with 20
- Jose Reyes has less steals than Rocco Baldelli
- The Pirates are 58-21

I was a complete 2007 junkie--pulled two all-nighters playing it and wound up SIMming about 50 seasons in various forms. Once I adjusted the skill level to the top rating it got eerily realistic too, like forecasting the rise of Asdrubal Cabrera and the rapid decline of pretty much every White Sox (Sock?).

I have the 2008 version but I've yet to do more than install it and set up a season. It'll have to wait until after football season or else I'll never get any work done.

Inspired by this thread, I've started another season.

My fantasy drafted Cubs are 52-26 right now. I've used a fan-made roster update made after the regular season for the most up to date ratings and projections. The only thing I don't like is you can use revenues to pretty much buy any player. Like, I traded Aaron Laffey and cash for Clay Buchholz even though a team would never take that downgrade for money. So even though all my difficulty settings are on the hardest, the Cubs still make enough money that every few weeks I can upgrade a prospect just by adding cash to a lesser one. As such, my farm system would be considered the best of all time at this point.

And I'm going to crack 150 SB's with Reggie Willits. I love this guy, takes walks all the time and won't stop running. Perfect leadoff man.

is it mac compatable? I didn't see it in the reqs. So I'm wondering if anyone w/ a Mac has tried the download. I hate but bunk files buried throughout my comp. thx
