The Yankees have agreed to a contract with Joe Girardi to become the team's next manager and an official announcement could come as soon as Tuesday, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney.

Girardi will sign a three-year contract worth approximately $7.5 million.

This move perfectly sets up the Yankees adding Miguel Cabrera at some point during the winter.

Yankees would need to part with Kennedy + Hughes/Joba IMO to get Cabrera.

Won't happen. Too much will have to be given up for him. Not to mention his increasing waistline & the eventual move to 1B or DH, something the Yankees have too much of.

I'd go so far as to say Santana will be in a Yankee uniform before Cabrera.

Buck Showalter, pt.2

By the end of next season, we'll see if his complaints of abusing young arms are valid.

I disagree I think they make a run at him even if they have to give up Phil Hughes or Melky Cabrera. Chubby or not Cabrera is still one of the best young hitters in the game and he would fill A-Rod's void in the lineup.

I can see them giving up Melky but Cashman will not, I repeat, will not, give up Hughes for anyone.

If Girardi couldn't handle the managment in Florida medlling in his business, how the hell is it gonna work out for him in NY when the Steinbrenner crew will be up in his business daily? With the predicted Yankee struggles, I see him fired by August
