I just picture a giant dart board with pictures of players on it and Sabean blindfolds himself and just throws. Only way I can understand Shea Hillenbrand

The sad thing is, the Giants probably have a top-5 farm system in baseball, and their scouting department appears to bring great things to life for them. Sabean just doesn't seem to understand what to do with his farm, though.

If by top 5 farm you mean bottom 5 farm, then yes they have a top 5 farm.

Uhh what? Are you confusing the Giants with a team that has a good farm system?

the giants fooled themselves into thinking that rowand actually got a good bat. he had a career year last year with the phillies coz he was in his CONTRACT YEAR. he's a .270 batter with 20 HRs and 70 RBIs at best. that kind of production doesnt make him worth 12 million a year.

Neither does their front office so you're not alone.

Hey, it turns out they know exactly what they're doing... Mitchell Report, pages 121-126. Sabean was on top of everything.
