Relax, BG. Perhaps I do not have all of the facts. If MLB expressly promised something and then reneged, then there is a contract that they will have to honor.

EDIT: I re-read the article to see what evidence there is that the league promised this money to all the staff, and I'm not finding it. Do you have that information from somewhere else? Here's what I have:

''When we voted to go to Japan, that was not a unanimous vote,'' said Lowell, "but we did what our team wanted us to do for Major League Baseball. They promised us the moon and the stars, and then when we committed, they started pulling back. It's not just the coaches,
it's the staff, the trainers, a lot of people are affected by this.

Great. Did "the moon and the stars" include $40,000 for every staff member? You need to be more specific than to say "they started pulling back."

Manager Terry Francona and his players were extremely irked after learning the team's coaches were not going to get the $40,000 stipend they assumed they

The source said that coaches, and managers as well as the training staff will all be compensated and the final amount is expected to exceed $40,000 per man.

According to the source, in the past, the coaches' compensation has come from the players' portion of the pool. This time around the coaches were eliminated from that pool. Did someone not tell the players? That'll be the interesting question to Sox player reps after the game.

I wonder what that means.

Maybe the whole thing is just a big misunderstanding. Who knows. Whatever the case it's worked itself out.
