Marlins in talks to get Adrian Gonzalez?

Post#1 » by Flash3 » Fri Jul 31, 2009 12:33 am

Braves Announcer Dave Sciambi is reporting that the Marlins are in heavy discussions with SD that will send Adrian Gonzalez & Heath Bell to Florida for Cameron Maybin Andrew Miller and Mike Stanton.

Is there any truth to this?

Probably not, but it's fun to think about, like 95% of the stuff that comes out this time of year

This.

Apparently there was a report on BCN yesterday of a huge 3 way deal being talked about that involved Halladay to the yanks. With names like Posada and Vlad and Veron wells involved. It's all fooey, but it is fun to talk about.

Back on topic, if that deal does happen, I really like it for the marlins.

Jon Sciambi just said that there was a rumor going around he heard. He didn't say they were in heavy discussion or anything. Unless he said something after the game. He didn't sound too convinced when I heard him.

I was making dinner and was in the kitchen when I heard him say that on the Braves broadcast, but you could be right. - I was stuck watching the ATL feed instead of the Marlins feed because of local blackout issues.

Boog is connected to the Marlins and the S Florida market, fwiw; hopefully something like this really happens.

Adrian Gonzalez has been rumored to going to a handful of teams. I wanted Atlanta to trade for him because he has a very friendly contract and he would add the pop the team desperately needs.

Nick Johnson to FL! We finally have a real 1B and can move Cantu back to 3B and set Bonafacio back to the bench.

Johnson's good for a big OBP boost when he is healthy. Not a bad consolation prize instead of Gonzalez, who probably wasn't going to be dealt anyway.
