It's actually pretty true. Its not that they don't have the money but Hal doesn't want to spend it.

If I were a Sox fan, I would agree. It would be good for the Yankees to keep jamming their SP prospects into the bullpen.

I actually do think at some point they need to let Hughes into the rotation, so I as a 5th starter your right he's worth a shot. But I wouldn't let Joba anywhere near that rotation. He's a reliever and a damn good one. Just start now in grooming him to replace Rivera.

I just want to see what will happen if Mauer makes it to the open market. I think he breaks Arod's record contract. I don't think 10 for 300 is out of the question.

Want to explain why the Yankees should give up on Joba as a starter? I mean a starter pitching 200+ innings a year is more valuable then a reliever throwing 80 innings a year. And please don't bring up Mo, he's a once in a lifetime type closer, we will never see another Rivera again in this league.

And Mauer isn't going to get a 10 year contract as a catcher, at least I don't think so. I'd rather spend that 300 million on Lee and Crawford and let Montero and/or Romine (if he's ready) take over the catching duties.

I agree that starters are more important. But, I'd rather have a dominate reliever than an average starter.

As for Mauer the Twins need to pay him the contract he wants to be honest. Keep him as the face of the team. I see no reason why Mauer shouldn't demand a 10 year deal, being a catcher or not.

Joba's problems right now are beyond the point that just sticking him in the bullpen will fix anything. If they can get his stuff back to its 07-08 form, he needs to be given every opportunity to start still. In an ideal world Joba would be starting the year at AAA until he's proven he's back on track. But sadly that won't happen (i'm not even sure it could happen because he might be out of options).

Regardless, both Phil and Joba will get shots in the rotation, chances are. Between Burnett and aging Pettitte, somebody's bound to get hurt.
