Andre Dawson is the lone person to be inducted into the baseball hall of fame.

Good for him. Surprised Roberto Alomar didn't get in.

Robbie got jobbed by the usual idiots who think that no one should receive votes in their first year of eligibility...highest first-year percentage of any player who didn't make the Hall.

Does this signal the end of first ballot HOF'ers being selected?

If you can't select alomar, who in the upcoming years can you select? :-?

There'll be other first-ballot players...Robbie probably lost ~10 votes from people who felt that they couldn't vote in a guy on the first ballot who didn't win an MVP at any point. And save for his defense, none of Alomar's stats jump out and force you to vote for him; the totality of them screams Hall of Famer, but some voters can't get over the fact that he never dominated the league in any specific offensive category.

So next year Alomar will be a HOFer? I just don't get this system at all.

Yea it confuses me to, so one year a guy isn't a Hall of Famer..but the next he suddenly is? Just like it confuses me how a player could be on the ballot for 20 years before he finally gets in, the Hall of Fame is kind of stupid.

The first ballot thing doesn't bother. If voters want to make tougher to be elected the first time through, so be it.
