2010 Predictions

Post#1 » by SportsWorld » Tue Feb 23, 2010 6:41 am

My predictions always suck (I think I had the Mets in the World Series last year) but here goes:
AL East:
1. Yankees
2. Red Sox*
3. Rays
4. Blue Jays
5. Orioles

AL Central:
1. White Sox
2. Tigers
3. Twins
4. Royals
5. Indians

AL West:
1. Rangers
2. Angels
3. Mariners
4. Athletics

NL East:
1. Phillies
2. Braves
3. Mets
4. Marlins
5. Nationals

NL Central:
1. Cardinals
2. Cubs
3. Brewers
4. Reds
5. Astros
6. Pirates

NL West:
1. Dodgers
2. Giants*
3. Rockies
4. Diamondbacks
5. Padres

Playoffs:
AL
Yankees vs White Sox
Red Sox vs Rangers

Yankees vs Red Sox

NL
Phillies vs Giants
Cardinals vs Dodgers

Phillies vs Cardinals

World Series:
Yankees vs Phillies

Yeah very boring but I honestly can't see anyone hanging with the Yankees and Phillies again. But of course, I'll probably be very wrong.

I believe the Yankees will take the AL again, but at this point I'm much more confident picking the Phillies to come out of the NL. Just doesn't look like much competition right now. Dodgers got worse, Colorado wouldn't scare me, and the Giants lineup can't hit with the Phillies. Only team I'd be worried about would be the Cards.

I'm sure the Phillies are plenty worried about the Braves. I feel really good about this year even if we're really shaky on the injury front.

Maybe I did overlook them a bit, but I would still be confident picking the Phillies in a 7 game series over the Braves.

My predictions: (Sorry for the possible homerism but I actually have a decent feeling about Cubs this year.)
AL West
1. Mariners
2. Rangers
3. Angels
4. A's
AL Central
1. Twins
2. White Sox
3. Tigers
4. Indians
5. Royals
AL East (I will live in infamy for this prediction, very tough, just my gut feeling, all three teams will win at least 90 games, imo)
1. Red Sox
2. Rays
3. Yankees (this is why I will take tons of flack, either them or Rays, imo could win somewhere from 95-100 ballgames and miss playoffs)
4. Orioles
5. Blue Jays
AL Wild Card
1. Rays
2. Yankees
3. Rangers
4. Angels
5. A's
6. Orioles
AL Playoffs ALDS
Rays vs Mariners: Mariners in 6
Red Sox vs Twins: Red Sox in 5
ALCS
Mariners vs Red Sox: Red Sox in 6
NL Predictions
NL East
1. Phils
2. Braves
3. Mets
4. Nationals
5. Marlins
NL Central
1. Cubs (I know, I know the homer calls will be tossed at me for this, very close race, IMO, Cards could make wild card, or cubs could)
2. Cardinals
3. Brewers
4. Pirates
5. Astros
6. Reds
NL West
1. Giants
2. Rockies (another extremely close race, very hard to predict)
3. Dodgers
4. D-Backs
5. Padres
NL Wild Card
1. Braves
2. Cardinals
3. Rockies
4. Mets
5. Brewers
6. Nationals
7. Dodgers
NL Playoffs (don't entirely know how they devise the system of who plays who in DS, might be faulty)
DS:
Braves vs Giants: Braves in 7
Cubs vs Phils: Phils in 6
CS
Braves vs Phils: Phils in 7
World Series:
Phils vs Red Sox: Sox in 7

In the NLCS you have the Phillies beating the Cards in 5 games, but the Cards in the WS. I'm guessing that was a mix up and have the Cards beating the Phillies?

That would be great for a franchise in the dumps.

Odds are way against it.....

I disagree about the Pirates finishing with a winning record but they have a good shot at finishing above the Astros for 5th this year.

Please refer to them as the Lastros or the Disastros, thank you.

I would bother to say they won't finish last this season and will actually come close to 80 wins but I know that won't happen because, well, it's Houston.

Sigh. At least I can look forward to football season...in six months.

:(

Oh well, could be worse I guess. I could be a Cubs fan!

Never. He was pretty amusing though with his switching teams every week.
