I just picked it up the other day. This is the first one I have bought and it is an amazing game. I am 20 games into the "road to the show" part of the game. Anyone have any experience/tips with it? How long does it take to get into the bigs?

The best tip I can give you is that you have to guess pitch and location and "square-up" to hit HRs. Every now and then you might hit one out by putting a contact swing (X) on the ball in the right location. In pitching, if you throw to the target too often, you're gonna get smashed.
