So what you're asking is, do the yankees have a team bad enough to not win the world series?

No, they don't.

If they stay healthy they are by far the best team in the league.

I'd agree that they are the best team, but not by far. Phillies, BoSox both have very good teams (Phillies especially if they weren't cheap and kept Lee+Halladay, but that's another conversation). I'm also a little concerned about a situation where they'd have to play SEA in a short series with Lee+Felix (As i think every team should).

Icing on the cake would be getting Damon on a 1 year deal at 6-7 mill/year. That would just end a great off-season by Cashman.

No chance. They have a filthy pitching rotation, and the deadliest offense in the league. Not to forget that they still have the best closer in history.

Only chance they lose it is if injuries, which are unpredictable.

Johnson/Jeter/A-Rod/Teixera/Posada/Granderson/Swisher/Gardner
2-6 is dangerous, and the others all have great OBP records.

Then we have Sabathia/Burnett/Vazuez/Pettitte/Joba

Hand them the championship, and lets fast forward next season already...never mind because by then they'll add Joe Mauer to the team.

I hate the AL East.

They win the World Series and still add talent. I think Granderson is going to be really good for them.

They will probably be favored to win it all, but you never know what will happen in a 5/7 game series.

It'll be interesting. At this time there's only two teams that I see really going up against Yankees in AL. Mariners and Red Sox. Phils from NL. Yanks are still a great team but if Adrian Gonzalez goes to Boston, that Red Sox team will be loaded too.

I doubt the Sox can take the division unless the Yanks have a big injury. But in a 7 game series with Beckett, Lester, and Lackey...I'll take my chances against them.

Health would be the biggest obstacle.....they are not exactly young at SS, 3B, C and Closer.

Another factor is that many things went the Yankees way last year especially the walk off wins, that doesn't always repeat itself.

But, they are the team to beat.

I wouldn't exactly say "many things went the Yankees way." They are just a very good late inning team. Most teams just have inconsistent closers that aren't very good at doing their job (yes even in the playoffs, Fuetes/Lidge). The Yankees have players that work the count and get on base, and when they get on base they have a lot of players with power to get the ball in the gap or hit the HR (especially in that park).

Another thing to factor in is that this year they will have A-Rod for the entire season. It's hard to win when your best player is sitting for the first 29 games of the season. They were 14-15 without A-Rod to start the season. There record when A-Rod returned was 89-44.

Sadly, no, though I'd love someone to pull off the upset.

Mariners will need to find some power from somewhere. I do think they would be a real tough team in a 7 game series though.

Lee, Hernandez, and a healthy Bedard would be a tremendous pain to hit against in the playoffs.
