Teen fan tasered by Phillies security after running onto field
The Philadelphia Inquirer spoke to this young man's dad on Tuesday morning and reports that the kid actually called his father to ask for permission before running on the field. The dad told him it wasn't the best of ideas — you think? — but the future Penn State student went ahead and did it anyway. He's being charged as a juvenile for resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and defiant trespass.
"He wasn't drinking. He was not on drugs," the father said.
The Philadelphia police commissioner, meanwhile, is publicly supporting the officer's actions. But the Phillies say they want to talk about whether or not such force is necessary for future trespassers.
Phillies spokeswomen Bonnie Clark said the police department is investigating the matter and discussing with the team whether using the stun gun was appropriate.
Police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore told The Philadelphia Inquirer police internal affairs will open an investigation to determine if the firing "was proper use of the equipment."
If they want my ruling, I'm calling it juuuuuust a bit excessive.

I don't have a problem with it. Maybe next time some of these idiots should think of the consequences before they do some of the stupid **** that they do. Apparently there was some idiot that ran onto the field again tonight, or at least I thought I heard that on Baseball Tonight.

It's not hard at all to refrain from hopping over a fence and onto the field. The boy's a moron and I wouldn't be surprised if he tasers himself at home just for the fun of it.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

If people are dumb enough to run onto a baseball field, then they deserve to get tasered. Hell, someone shoot these fools in the leg with a gun. Maybe they'll learn something.

What a dumbass kid.
The taser use was questionable, but then again the kid was stupid.

How can you not have a problem with this?
Yes he's an idiot. But you don't potentially kill someone for being an idiot to save the 30 seconds of inconvinience chasing him. It's not like he's putting anyone in harms way, or can even get away when he's in a big ass stadium.

That's the problem, you don't know that he's putting anybody at harm or not when he's running around like that. How many times is it going to take before somebody really does bring some kind of weapon on the field and try to harm one of the players? Then everybody is going to be yelling "well what preventative steps could they have taken beforehand to stop this from happening in the first place" Just because he's 17 years old doesn't mean he isn't capable of that. Not to mention, to a lesser extent, one of these cops can get injured pretty badly at the expense of one of these idiots.
Something really needs to be done at Citizens Bank Park. Within the first month of the season a fan has thrown up purposely on a little girl, a fan has been tased, and the following night another fan runs on the field. I don't blame the cops for being such dicks there. If you have ever tailgated any of there playoff games in the last 2 years you would know what I mean. I am one of the college kids that likes to tailgate the games, but when I drink I can have fun and not act like an idiot, but you have some people breaking peoples car windows, climbing up on street lights, throwing beers at cops, etc., etc.

Lets be honest, we all know how these things go. A drunk idiot runs out on the field, and the fat secutiry gaurds look like idiots chasing him. Then he gets tired after 30 seconds, and that's that. You can't just start tazing people because something might happen even though the chances are extremly extremly slimo. An atheletes probably more likely to get attacked walking around in public, but you don't taze everyone that walks by him.
You might look at it from "what if the guy attacked a player" perspective. Well what if we look at it from the perspective of "what if the 17y/o performing a harmless stunt was killed"?
