ERA OVER 9
WHIP over 2

He just looks absolutely awful.. What the hell is wrong with him?

How does Kenny Williams still have a job after adding two horrible contracts in Peavy + Rios?

its because Peavy is facing AL hitters when he was in SD he was facing the NL which doesnt have the hitters like the AL does.

And he was pitching in a stadium larger than some countries. It wasn't exactly a secret that his numbers were considerably worse away from Petco, and he's now playing in a hitter-friendly stadium.

Obviously, he won't be this bad all year...his ERA will likely end up at least 3 runs lower, but it shouldn't really come as a surprise that he's not looking like an ace.

Tell me about it, I took this guy kinda late in my fantasy draft and thought he'd be a steal. At least I got Barry Zito off waivers.

He was pitching in the NL West in a pitcher's park..now he's in the AL in a hitter's park.

There is no salary cap in MLB. If Reinsdorf is willing to pony up the money for players like Peavy and Rios, so be it.

Besides, if you are willing to make such a reactionary post about Peavy a month into the year, you'd better do it for Rios as well, as he is earning his paycheck this season (5 HR, 9 steals, .900 OPS).

As to why Williams has a job, he has acquired guys like Thornton, Jenks, Danks, Dye, Quentin, etc., for pennies on the dollar. Even a guy like Andruw Jones was a fantastic pickup: 1.028 OPS, $500,000 contract.

He also helped construct the first Chicago baseball team to win a WS in 88 years. So there's that.
