would you fight Morgan?

Post#1 » by Pharmcat » Thu Sep 2, 2010 9:45 pm

this guy seems crazy!

http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/new ... p&c_id=was

1st

this not stealing base thing when down big is BS...you should be allowed to steal base and manufacture runs, a game isnt over till its over (didnt the braves blow a 9 run lead last week?)

2nd

that clothesline, while looks nice, was bush league, tackle the guy, but dont take a shot if he's not looking at you

3rd

Morgan needs help...some1 needs to teach him how to act when playing this game

4th

I love it when teams have nothing else to play for so they go after each other

Guy is small but he was a pretty good hockey player, played in the WHL for a year or two.

That was a wild melee.

I don't blame Morgan, but what might get him in more trouble was his behavior when he was leaving the field.

Man, I have Zero problem with Morgan. His collision at the plate the night before the brawl was clean and necessary as hell, and stealing two bases being down how ever many runs is clean and necessary. The Marlins are bitches for finding either of those two situations offensive.

Yep.

Someone needs to clock Gaby Sanchez and each of the marlins broadcasters.

The catcher was on the plate, with his left foot on the third base side of the plate. If he slid, he could've potentially did some damage to his leg. Still, zero problem with it.

Really Morgan didn't do anything to the Marlins to deserve this. But I do think this was karma catching up with Morgan for his general douchebaggery over the last couple weeks.

I was going to ask about these so called rules of the game.
-Never understood the commentator saying you shouldnt steal when your in the losing team in a blow out. I could understand if you are in the winning team, but shouldnt you try and get as many runs if your in the losing team?
-The catcher thing and how he should have slid. was probably right. but thats hindsight. he had like a split second to decide and thought he would rather go hard. it was just unfortunate that the catcher got injured. didnt the catcher even say it was fair?

I like that he stole the bases, but otherwise he has been embarrassing himself all year.

Why does someone need to clock Sanchez? I have no problem with what he did to Morgan. If Nyjer doesn't want to get blindsided don't charge the f'n mound. If it wasn't for his punk ass he never would have been hit in the first place.

And if the Marlins don't want Nyjer to charge the mound, don't throw at/behind him twice in one game, simply for playing the game.

The fact that retaliation via the HBP is not only an accepted part of the game, but it's applauded, is absolute nonsense. It's unbelievably immature, and it's hard to believe it's done my a bunch of adults.

He got thrown at because of his cheap shot on the catcher. I'm sorry I didn't see that play the same as other in this thread. I thought he went out of his way to hurt the catcher.

What would you like to see as retaliation.

I'd like to see a fine and perhaps a suspension if it was indeed a cheap shot.

"You hurt my player, so I'm going to throw this ball at you!", is really only asking for more. Not to mention, it's childish.

The point is the put some fear into the players so they don't do that kind of stuff in the first place. Although I'm not sure how well it works in todays game.

Except that it clearly doesn't work and in this case dramatically escalated the behavior of those involved. I guess the idea is you take a minor, irrational act and ratchet up the irrationality and impact until one side or the other decides they've had enough. Then when far more damage has been caused than what had transpired initially one side can claim to be the "winner".

That Morgan should not have been stealing with his team down 10 plus runs early in the game may be one of the dumbest, most absurd things I've ever heard. I'm quite surprised that one of them did not express the attitude that "Morgan should have just pulled up and accepted himself as being out when he saw Hayes getting ready to catch the ball. I mean, we're not here to compete."
Naz Reid.

Morgan had no reason to touch the catcher IMO. He would have been easily safe if he avoided him.

Now the whole stealing thing I'm with you on. Steal a base whenever you want you shouldn't be thrown at. However if you try to hurt someone then I have no problem with somebody throwing at you.
