I'm just reading this book now and it's outstanding. Michael Lewis makes Billy Beane out to be some kind of genius that's ten years ahead of his time. Do you guys agree with this? What are your thoughts on this book? I for one love it.

It's typical as far as a Michael Lewis book goes. He has an annoying tendency to puff up his subjects to flawless, near god-like status (see "The New New Thing") and he usually treats dissenting arguments with little concern and rarely portrays them in a positive light.
There's really nothing to disagree with in the book; it's about a small market team using market inefficiencies to stay competitive. Make this about any other business and this is essentially common sense, but for some reason crusty baseball types with little reading comprehension get all up in arms over it.

There is also a movie called Prospect featuring Terry Francona, David Wright, Michael Cuddyer, BJ Upton, Chad Tracy, Brendan Harris, Chris Ray, etc. Its a good movie that shows exactly how scouts evaluate pitchers and hitters. And even touches on the mental aspect of the game. I like what Billy Beane did but to piss off Mets87 I just had to post this on here.
Just kidding man, but seriously visit the website and order the movie if u can. You'll enjoy it.
