Braun obviously as tons of upside. (and it's much higher then Wright's). To say he CAN hit 35-40 HR's isn't a stretch at all. I think he will too. Him and Prince are a scary combo.

But I think it is a little pre-mature to say he's better then Wright right now. Maybe in a few years. (pujols and arod are one of a kind. i doubt he'll be THAT good)

What a terrific argument. You are making my side of the argument look pretty reasonable.

You can sit there and they all you want about him being a rookie and coming down to earth. Will he slow down? Obviously, only guys like Ichiro sustain .330+ averages year in and year out. But will he stop? Never. He will be what everybody THOUGHT Wright would be. Braun will hit 35 homers a year and mix in some years of 40+ while consistently being a .300 hitter, and he'll throw in his 25 SB.

Braun is having as good a year as Wright while he is only a rookie and didn't have a month and a half or so due to some time in AAA. I'd take Braun over Wright and wouldn't look back.

wtf you talking about?

Wright was never thought of as a 35-40 HR hitter. He is a line drive hitter with 25-30 power potential who gets into streaks and hits HRs.

Like Sickels said, Wright is a 7 tool player. Now he his SB totals are rising so Wright is going to be a 315/380/520 25 110 25 player. I'll gladly take that every year.

Throughout Wright's minor league career, you are right, he never projected to be a tremendous power hitter. Sometimes when gap hitters get older and better, they turn into home run hitters. That is what everybody thought happened to Wright in 2005 when he hit 27 homers his first full season in the majors. After that, people thought there would be years of 35-40 homers in his career. However, that is just not the case.

I completely agree that you have to take those numbers on a yearly basis, I just said that Braun will be better, not that Wright is bad.

I do agree to some extent. Braun obviously with this start to his career has shown more promise than Wright did to start his career. Braun has an extremely good eye and he has a skill most young players dont which is the ability to take pitches and wait for your pitch to hit. Braun is a special talent but I think it's too early to say he is a once in a decade type of Player.

I'd personally take Wright over Braun. I don't think Braun is this good and the league will catch up to him to an extent, and Braun is a butcher. In comparision, Wright is a very good fielder, a terrific baserunner and will hit 25-30 HRs in his prime.

That being said, I'd take Miguel Cabrera over both of them. His bat is just too good.

Name me how many hitters are career .343 hitters? He's going to come back to Earth, get over it.

You are making it sound like he's going to hit .280. He is a very gifted and natural hitter, he will always be a great hitter. If you look at Pujols' and Braun's stats in their rookie years they are pretty close. Braun is close to Pujols in games played to 15 homers.

Mets 87, you said Miggy was a great DH. My arguement was that if he is a great DH, he is also a great 3B. The majority of this board and major league GM's would take him over David Wright. Grow up.

Over these players? You do realize players like Cabrera and Pujols were in the majors at 20 and 21. Quite a big difference from a 23, soon to be 24 year old. And your really starting to come off as a huge homer.
