i was just reading the pedro martinez news that he pitched in a simulated game.

my question is, how does a simulated game works? are there batters and so?

Hitters tend not to take these plate appearances too seriously, but in one documented case, an infielder with the Cleveland Indians threw his helmet onto the field in frustration

Being a Cubs fan I know clearly what a simulated game is.
If there was a Hall of Fame for simulated games. Mark Prior and Kerry Wood would be first ballot Hall of Famers

I mean for the batters if they are healthy or for the other pitcher.
