oh god the triples arguement.

Soriano has been out since the Cubbies started making their ''run'' to get to 65-61....thats 4 f-in games over

66-61.

And we played our best in June when he was healthy.

Umm, we are 1st in the division your team is in
Cubs: 65-61
Astros: 57-71

And although Lee is a great hitter he is only hitting .305 this year. He has also grounded into 21 double plays which is a rally killer.

Everyone knows that batting average is the worst possible statistic to use if you want to quantify if someone is a good hitter or not. You need to look at all the stats as a whole, BA included.

Soriano .297/.336/.511/.847
Lee .307/.362/.539/.901

You can argue about salary and what not but clearly Lee is a better hitter than Soriano. mahalo

But as a whole Soriano is a more valuable player to his team (when he is NOT hitting leadoff)

Unfortunately, he's always hit leadoff for the Cubs. It's very frustrating.

While Soriano brings a bit more speed and plays an offensively less demanding position (corner OF are supposed to be sluggers and wasn't Soriano in CF this year? Or did he get moved back to left?), contracts aside, I'd rather have Lee than Soriano. Soriano has a bit more speed but Lee steals a decent amount of bases so it's not like he's Doug Mirabelli. And considering that Soriano is a lead off hitter who doesn't get on base much, he value as a "lead off guy" is diminished. mahalo

I'd much rather have Lee, it's not even close. As long as Soriano hits leadoff, his power isn't that valuable and his low OBP just hurts the team.
