Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
nah funny thing is, Yost has out managed Bochy so far. Bochy going with Hunter Strickland last game and in this one, not laying down the bunt several times to get it tied up.

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
IVe been paying attention to the play offs, still cant bring myself to watch a full game, but there is something thats massively confusing for me.
Why is a GM making coaching decisions?
Is there a coach as well?
Is there a coach and a GM and they both make roster/line up changes together?
What is does a GMs job entail in the MLB?
If the GM is doing the line up, drafting, signing, etc. then what is the coach doing? Just training?
Im very confused with this set up as it seems very different from the NBA or NFL.

Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
In baseball, there's a manager and his bench coaches. The manager and the GM are not synonymous.

Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
I guess that clears some of it up.
So who brings in talent? Who is the overall decision maker for drafting and signing?
Forgive me for my ignorance, i stopped watching baseball because the 93 strike pissed me off.

The GM is basically responsible for all those calls with some input from ownership and the coaching staff.

Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
So the hierarchy goes....
Owner(s) - Pays everyone
GM - Hires everyone
Manager - Basically the coach if this was NBA or NFL
Bench Coaches - Assistant coaches, specialist coaches, etc.
Is this accurate?

It's a good thing Bum goes next game or this may not make it back to KC.

Wont anyway.
I haven't payed attention to baseball since 1992 but for some reason my predictions have been spot on this year and my prediction after the play in game was Royals lose one game in the post season and thats game one of the WS.

Re: 2014 MLB Playoffs Thread
I'd like to see the series go back to KC, to be honest.
If the Royals win it all, it should be at home where the whole nation can see Kauffman Stadium get burnt down to the ground in celebration.

Wont happen. At this point i cant stop the chain reaction my predictions have created. Its a tumbling snowball at and getting bigger and bigger.

I miss Hunter being in an Astros uniform.

We watched the tragedy unfold. We did as we were told, we bought and sold. It was the greatest show on Earth...but then it was over.
