Seattle will regret making this deal, but still, good for them.

Knowing the logic of this front office, it'll be more power and veteran rentals in the pitching staff.

Heard they're going for Shin-Soo Choo, Carlos Beltran, Omar Infante, and Stephen Drew, not one, but all of them. So if they manage to get all 4, then you have Brian McCann, Mark Teixiera, Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano, Jacoby Ellsbury, Ichiro, Brett Gardner, Francisco Cervelli, Kelly Johnson, Brendan Ryan, and Vernon Wells. That's 15 hitters, not even including A-Rod.

The top of the order with Gardner, Ellsbury and Choo would be nuts, but I don't see it happening.

Who the hell knows with the Yankees? All I know is that they need 2 more starting pitchers whether it's Tanaka and a high priced free agent or 2 high priced free agents to go with CC, Kuroda, and Nova. Phelps could move into the bullpen and Robertson will close. That's 7 pitchers and if the Yankees do get those 15 batters, that leaves room for 3 more players on the active roster and those all better be relievers.

Rosenthal reported something on Napoli being pressing, but I haven't heard anything else for a few hours.

And if we add another quality bat or two? We already have really good starting pitching and solid defense.

Please, son.

The Mariners do need some help, but I sure give them credit and going out to get the best player. I have no idea how much more cash they got, but someone like Nelson Cruz could do that lineup wonders.

Cards gain a supplemental 1st and Yanks lose theirs after the chain of events that involved McCann, Ellsbury, Cano, and Granderson.

I like what the Angels have been doing this offseason. It almost looks like they're trying to do what the Red Sox did last winter.

Also, Mark Prior officially retired from baseball today:

It's weird to think about what may have been if Dusty Baker never ruined his career.

trade for Freese
Trade for Skaggs.

how is this similar to Boston? or did they do something else I'm not aware of?

They're switching up the formula, not downsizing as much as Boston, but on the similar path.

Great trade for the Angels.

Weaver R - Wilson - L - Santiago - L - Richards - R - Skaggs L

Free up $4MM more to add for a veteran SP to push one of the younger guys to the bullpen.

imo, they should try to deal Albert, pay half of his deal and get a huge haul for him.

they could change EVERYTHING with just one deal.
blah...wat do i know? they think that bald 47 year old is going to actually pay off over the next...8 years.
smh.

No one would ever take Pujols, even if they pay half the salary. And they definitely wouldnt get a huge haul for him either.

he's at wat now after those 2 seasons....8 years and 200 Ms?

u cut that in half and it's 8 years for 100 Ms?
u don't think someone would take that on and give them back 2 or 3 arms? 2?
you think they'd get nothing at all?

somebody has to take that...even just to sell tickets.

Yeah, I dont think anyone would give something up for Pujols. Dudes 33, has 8 years left, and even at 100 mill, thats still a lot. Doesnt help that he's been on the decline for the last couple years, either.

Mariners sign Cory Hart to a 1-Year deal.

Great low-risk signing!
