He got thrown out for having a conversation with his teammates.

Umpires are clowns. Ridiculous they haven't been replaced with technology yet.

i was loosely paying attention to that.

what happened?
He was arguing with his teammates on the infield?

I had to step out for a second so I missed it live. But saw the replay. Ump stuck his nose in on the convo and decided to throw him out after arguing balls and strikes the previous half inning.

The umpires have been terrible all season (and postseason), for every team. There is no defensible reason for a human being to be calling a baseball game anymore.

I was watching a game at my buddy's house and his wife is from Azerbaijan , has no idea about baseball. We were explaining the game to her and the FIRST thing she asks after somewhat understanding the rules was " whats the point of the guy behind the plate when theres a pitch tracker on the screen?" I thought it was hilarious...and telling. We really need to get rid of these guys, these guys hold grudges against players more than in any other major league sport.

I like to trash the umps as much as anyone but I guarantee you as soon as we switch to automated balls/strikes by a camera/computer, people will complain about it missing calls too.

The only thing you could possibly complain about would be calibration, something that both teams would probably have to give the thumbs up to before the game.

They can stay and do the little things, and leave the strike zone to computers.

Would be nice for perfection in calling balls and strikes, though if they did bring in a computer what would fans of the losing teams have to complain about? Let's face it, complaining when losing is as much a part of sports as celebrating when you win.

The star player not getting a clutch hit. The best player not running out a fly ball. The manager's bullpen management and lineup construction. The GM's terrible trades. Everything else that is currently complained about today.

Surely those complaints would and do come....but I'm more speaking of the general complaining about officials. Not calling out any one and hope it didn't come across that way. I find myself screaming about bad strike/non strike calls when my team is losing....often times I'm wrong, but not always.

But again, id love to take the calls out of the imperfect eyes of a human being. Though I also believe the guys behind the plate have an incredibly tough job and do it fairly well. Perhaps in a decade or two, after we get our flying cars and cornerstore cyborg implants...can't see it happening anytime soon though.

Probably.

Maybe the MLB can just hire better umpires?

If a pitcher usually hits their spot on the border, they get the call. But if they miss the spot and get lucky on a border on another side, they don't usually get the call. I like it that way, and computerized strike zones won't do that. It'd be like a video game.

The ump would still do those things since computers can't make judgement calls.

How do you complain about something that's perfect? You can see the pitch tracker yourself. If it says strike, it was a strike. Complaints would almost disappear entirely.

People complain about the umps today when they see a strike on the pitch tracker only to have the ump call it a ball and vice versa.

Such as? I don't think anyone is advocating for the removal of umpires altogether but just vacating them from deciding on the strike zone.

Soon as the computer screws over someone's favorite team, you'll hear complaints.

Anyways, disappointing LCS so far. Looks like Royals/Mets. Go Royals.

The point is computers can't screw anyone over. They're perfect.

Meant to quote Quake. Not sure what happened. But we agree and that's cool. Sorry.
