It's cute that you think the Yankees have pieces to consider dealing.
TyCobb wrote:As a fan of baseball, I'd want that trade to happen. Dodgers got that division on lock and the Yanks need a new face of the franchise.
Tulo is a great player and all, but the franchise already has enough guys in their 30s who have trouble playing 140+ games a season.
Honestly, and I've been saying this for the last 2-3 years, I just want this franchise to rebuild, but asking that of the Yankees is like asking the pope to convert to Buddhism. The farm system is getting slightly better, as Cashman is beginning to not blow his load every deadline, but it's still one of the bottom third systems in the league.
The team will continue to be mediocre as long as the FO chucks gigantic contracts at guys on the cusp of/on the wrong side of 30. And, the worst part about all of this is that A-Rod goes back on the books next season and back into the clubhouse.

Doubront, Peavy, Lester, Lackey and Miller in about a week's time. I'm not sure that the Sawx have a rotation right now.

I concur.
The Atlanta rotation could desperately use him but it appears that won't be happening.
Maybe the ownership is doing something that we don't know about and are pursuing David Price (ha).

What a deadline.
Price to the Tigers.
Aw man what a stretch/ postseason it's gonna be.
The A's make moves for the Tigers. The Tigers respond in great fashion.
Wow!

Miller has been fantastic this year...
And Miller has been in their BP all year long, I believe.

Re: 2014 MLB Wheelings & Dealings
I've been asleep since I made that Sawx post, and holy sh*t.
How in the world was that enough of a package for the Rays to part with Price? All the reports I kept hearing the last couple YEARS, is how the Rays won't give him up unless they were blown away by the deal in front of them.
I will say, though, good on the Mariners for snagging Austin Jackson on the back-end of this deal. They got the top of the lineup bat and speed they were looking for, for the price of Nick Franklin, who really seems to be struggling to develop a consistent bat.

The A's lost a good right-handed bat and a very fun, exciting player in Yoenis Cespedes, but the A's got a really good left-handed starting pitcher and a proven winner in Jon Lester even if it means for 3 months. The A's save $10.5 mil next season by trading away LF-Yoenis Cespedes and they can use that money to give 3B-Josh Donaldson a new contract.
What I don't like is the A's trading away a very good 5 tool prospect in SS-Addison Russell to the Chicago Cubs for a very horrendous starting pitcher in RHP-Jason Hammel and a very mediocre, average starting pitcher in RHP-Jeff Samardzija and then having to move LHP-Tommy Milone to the minor league. I just wish that trade never happen

#1: LHP-Scott Kazmir
#2: LHP-Jon Lester
#3: RHP-Sonny Gray
#4: RHP-Jesse Chavez
#5: LHP-Tommy Milone

The Detroit Tigers got a nasty starting rotation

the A's flipped a .256/.303/.464/.767 hitter with 1 more year on his deal for an ace/title run.
they win.
they win.

Don't mind the LF-Yoenis Cespedes for LHP-Jon Lester trade even if it means the A's are only getting 3 months from Jon Lester, but the trade of SS-Addison Russell to the Chicago Cubs for RHP-Jeff Samardzija and RHP-Jason Hammel is going to hurt the A's just like when the A's traded LF-Carlos Gonzalez and RHP-Huston Street to the Colorado Rockies for LF-Matt Holliday.

At least the Braves did something even though we got a lefty that can't get lefties out this year.
