So, Billy Beane continues to dump all his minorities and deals Brandon Moss to the Indians for someone named Joey Wendle.

Jon Lester is supposedly going to make his decision by the end of day tomorrow, and it's between the Sawx, Cubs, and the two most popular teams in this thread.

Speaking of the Cubs, they got Jason Hammel back.

I don't know what Dave Cameron is claiming a win is worth in million of dollars this year, but I believe in the past it has been 6. If that's the case, Miller only has to be worth around 6 wins in the next 4 years to make good on his deal. That seems pretty doable.

If the Yankees retain Robertson, that bullpen is going to be nasty.

The only team that I've heard of willing to throw the money he wants (other than the Yankees, of course) is the White Sox. If we managed to keep him, the combination of Miller/Betances/Robertson to sew up games would indeed be ridiculous, but we'd still need the starting pitching to get there.

Right now the rotation has only three surefire guys: Tanaka, Sabathia and Pineda. All three have injury issues. I'd like to bring back Brandon McCarthy as a back end guy, since he was pretty great down the stretch after the deal. I'm thinking Cashman will throw bundles of money at either Shields or Scherzer, or he'll try to deal what little valuable farm hands we have to land someone like Hamels. I'd also be pretty okay with another single year deal for Kuroda to sure up the back end.

If the rotation ended up being: Tanaka/CC/Pineda/McCarthy/Kuroda, with Ivan Nova and David Phelps filling gaps, I'd be fine with it. Of course, bringing in Max Scherzer would be fantastic.

if you want to content, you need a proven guy like Scherzer. Tanaka may eventually require a surgery next season. CC's prime has come and gone. Pineda and McCarthy are both also injury prone and i wouldn't count on both of them start and finish the season without a long stretch on DL. Kuroda is trustworthy in terms of durability, but his desire and performance seems to slip a bit.

frankly, I wish Max in a dodger uniform so not that i care to have the Yanks sign him but for any team out there who wants to content, he can help any team for the next 2-3 years as an ace. the remaining 3-4 years, could be another CC tho.

does anybody know why teams don't front load deals? particularly to the guys over 30.

I'm looking on baseball reference and Cano is making 24 Ms ever year until he retires.
who wants to pay him 24 Ms at age 41?

thinking about this because all the good pitchers in the FA market are over 30.

I wish the Dodgers needed OF'ers so we could get Kemp for J-Up.

I think the Theo connection and promises of broken curses may lure Lester to Wrigley.

looks like some around here are suffering from inferiority complex. that post was never intended to any one in particular but rather a general statement based on my personal experience with math challenged folks who deny the significance of SABR as scientifically challenged folks who deny global warming and always say "but, but that guy at MIT on fox news said it was a bull" then i always go on asking these folks if they remember the name and they never do.

and oh BTW Richard Lindzen of MIT and his Atmospheric Iris Effect has been found to be hoax by his own graduate students. Ironically due to his algebra mistake on his earlier calculation of his data.

according to pascal's thermo atomic holomorphic functions theorem and feodr bernsteins graduate thesis at john hopkins in 1978, you have to sign good players to content for championships.

galileo and aristotle saw this centuries ago, you feeble minded peons better keep up.
