I dont think we are a fluke, I honestly believe we are for real and should make the playoffs. But I dont think we can tell who the best team is just by the record considering it still somewhat early. Personally, The Brewers are not the best team in the league even tho they have the best record. there are some other teams like the Red Sox, Mets, Braves, Indians and Dodgers who could be better. But at the same time they might not. An upcoming stretch with series agains the Mets, Phillies, Twins, Dodgers, Padres and Braves will tell a lot about where the Brewers stand among the elite.

Best team in baseball?
Way too early to tell...

Fluke?
Depends what you look at as a fluke. But in my standards (making the playoffs) it is not.

There is no best team in baseball in early May.

Brewers fans should be very excited about how they are playing, but it is true that their schedule has been less than grueling so far. We'll see how things stand after we start playing some of the tougher teams in the NL.

... well said. give the Brewers credit for what they have done so far because despite who they have played, they are winning games and thats what matters. save the assesment for a later date.

My bad what I meant to write was them being 5-4 combined against LAD, Florida and Chicago. They are a good team that plays in a bad division and too call them the best team in baseball is funny.

Boston would smoke them in a series.

Hate to bring up the "no respect" thing, but stuff said like this is exactly what others have said when it comes to us getting no respect.

And Boston wouldn't even come close to "smoking" us in a series. We play them in a 3 game series we have a very good shot at least winning 2. In a 4 game series, we would split.

Keep believing we aren't for real, and at the end of May, we'll talk.

The Central isn't good by any means but it isn't as bad as others make it out to be.

I won't say the Brewers are the best in baseball. It's far too early to say that. But the rest of this month is brutal on Milwaukee.

@ NY Mets
@ Philly
Minnesota
@ LAD
@ SD
Atl

It's the hardest stretch of the season. If they're still at or near the top of the league come June you'll have to consider them the cream of the NL.

Fluke? No. Best team in baseball? Hell no. They're the best team in the NL Central, I'd say the third best team in the NL right now. Lots can change over the course of a season though. The rest of this month will be a good indicator of how good they can be, though.

The Brewers have not played a team with a winning record since the opening weeks of baseball. They have proved absolutely nothing yet. This next month will show if the Brewers are a contender or pretender.

Series So Far:
Dodgers (2-1)
Cubs (1-2) (Series Loss)
Marlins (2-1)
Cardinals (1-1) (Series Tied)
Reds (2-1)
Pirates (2-0)
Astros (2-1)
Cubs (2-1)
Astros (2-1)
Cardinals (3-0)
Pirates (3-1)
Nationals (3-0)

They have played absolutely nobody yet. The only decent team they beat was the Dodgers and the Cubs.

So in other words they beat the teams that they're supposed to beat.

Its early. Brewers haven't played tough competition. But the head start this gives them is priceless. If they play .500 from here on out they'll have something like 88 wins, which many thought would be all it takes to win the central.

If they play at whatever clip you expected them to (most thought a little above .500) they'll break 90 wins easily.

The wheels could fall off...but the start gives them quite the advantage from here on out. Braun will be up to give a little production at third/DH (for interleague). Plus they can now be buyers at the trading deadline to shore up the middle of the pen or upgrade somewhere else.

Its not a sure thing, but its not crazy to be talking about the playoffs, unless you think they're going to play sub .500 ball from here on out.

Anyone who calls the Brewers "a fluke" is absolutely and 100% clueless about baseball. When you have a deep rotation, the best 8th and 9th inning bullpen arguably in the majors and a balanced lineup, how exactly are you a fluke?

.500 baseball in the remaining games and the Crew will still crack 88 wins. 90 is a lock for this team.

Those calling this team a fluke either don't know baseball or are just ignorant.

You already think the Cubs lost? They haven't played yet, the Brewers are 7 games up now, 6.5 if the Cubs win, 7.5 if they lose.

Yeah, statistically we're the best team in baseball. But when it's crunchtime, the question you have to poise is that are we going to be able to get the job done?
First 5 picks of the draft:
1. Greg Oden - Memphis
2. Kevin Durant - Boston
3. Brandan Wright - Milwaukee
4. Yi Jianlian - Pheonix
5. Seattle - Al Horford

    The team with the best record in the majors is the third best team in the NL? Please, watch one brewers game. A team with as deep of a rotation as ours, a tremendous bullpen ranking 6th in the majors in ERA and timely and good hitting is not a fluke and not the third best team in the NL. Please, stop.
