Gomez wasn't just taking a longer HR trot, he was straight up talking sh*t to Maholm, Freeman, and everyone who would listen. What Gomez did was just disrespectful, good for McCan to not just taking it and for standing up for his team.

Cano is looking for a 10 year, $305 million deal. Looks like the Yankees are about $100 off so far based on preliminary talks. What are the chances that he resigns with them?

He can kick rocks if that's the money he wants. That's insanity.

I'd rather have Cashman hike up the payroll again going after pitchers who are actually under 30 and maybe someone like Jacoby Ellsbury, who has the ability to generate runs in a different manner than the last decade.

Oh, and I hope Girardi goes and gets his dream job in Chicago. He should win a Nobel Prize in mismanaging pitching rotations and bullpens.

Girardi better not put Mo in centerfield in Houston this weekend. Don't turn this into a novelty.

Yanks are down 2-0 right now in the seventh and they only have one hit, but no matter the situation, Mo will be coming in during the ninth.

Probably won't be the storybook situation we wanted for him, but hearing Enter Sandman one last time while he jogs to the mound in pinstripes will probably coax a tear out of me.

Jeebus... If I reacted like that to Mo leaving, I can only imagine what I'll be like for Jeet's last game.

i don't know what happened with the Gomez situation....

but the Braves were talking crap to Fernandez and then got mad when he showed them up with the HR. FOH. You talked crap to a kid and got mad when the kid pitcher celebrated his HR.

with that situation under the belt...I'm literally hoping Gomez was talking purely because he was being a butthole and not because the Braves, again, were talking crap and then got holier than thou when he started giving it back while circling the bases.

you could always ding Gomez the next time he comes up btw.
you get a clean shot on him...and you might get your brawl anyway.

The Braves didn't talk crap to Fernandez, Chris Johnson did, and it wasn't exactly unprovoked. Fernandez plays a very animated game and not everyone responds well to it. But if you got a problem with Johnson, say something to Johnson when you get to 3rd (and he did spit when he got to 3rd). Don't stand at home like Barry Bonds hitting #756 and show up the pitcher. Fernandez knew he was out of line, as did his manager, and McCann calmly reinforced that. They have a friendly relationship and it wasn't perceived negatively by Fernandez. It only escalated into anything because Johnson freaked out.

Gomez was an enraged lunatic when he stepped into the box and went to the extreme in taunting Maholm after the HR. Then he proceeded to bark the entire trip around the diamond. All because of a pitch 3 months ago that only he remembered. Any team is going to react aggressively to that. Most catchers probably wouldn't step in the way McCann did, but such an absurd display from Gomez deserved an unusual reaction.

MLB just isn't the same without Mo Rivera walking out to Enter Sandman.

Gattis stared down Fernandez after a homer...then CJ started talking.
if 2 ppl on the team are chirping to a guy, then the team can be considered as chirping to a guy. Wouldn't even have escalated if CJ didn't run to home plate after McCann gave Fernandez a few words

again...dunno the Gomez situation...but just hoping it wasn't more of the same.

Side note:
Glad I'm not apart of the "i hate the yankees but have the utmost respect for Mo and Jeter" crew.
didn't cry...dont feel sad...dont let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.
peace.

Braves' magic number for homefield is 3.

That game reminded me of the WC game last year. Not the memories I want to be conjuring right before the playoffs start.
