As per Howard Mass instructions, I'm visiting the realgm MLB Discussion Boards. Name your surprise team/player for 2010:

Surprise team. I really think it is going to be the Pirates. They have talent in the lineup and I think a lot of the players will show it for a full season. And they finally have a decent bullpen.

Surprise Team: San Francisco Giants

I really think they are going to be good. Like, 90+ wins good, maybe around 95. I like the team they have assembled, even if they are a little light still on offense to be a legit contender.

Their rotation is awesome though.

I don't see how the Giants going from 87 to 95 wins would be a surprise.

Surprise team: Oakland A's

I think the rotation is going to be good and the offense could get a lot better once Chris Carter and Michael Taylor are called up. They could sneak into the playoffs in a weak division.

Some surprise players: Will Venable, Esmailin Caridad, Brandon Wood, Sean Rodriguez, Jaime Garcia, Lastings Milledge, Samuel Gervacio, Tom Gorzelanny, Drew Stubbs

Casey Janssen for AL MVP; he has appeared in three games, and has picked up the win each time. Currently on pace for an 81-0 record, which isn't bad.

Well, yeah. It's a rebuilding club with a rotation made up almost entirely of youngsters and cast-offs, and a lineup featuring roughly three real hitters and a number of placeholders. Sucking is what the team was designed to do.
