If the first 3 innings are any indication, the Nats have found themselves a pitcher.

First 3 innings read 3 1 0 0 0 6.

Nice start kid........time will tell.

The question is whether he or Price will be the first #1 draft pick to ever become a 20 game winner.

I had an unfair advantage over most people when hyping Strasburg up over the past year: I saw him in college a lot. I love him, he's crazy good.

His stuff is top notch. I know its the Pirates and they're a horrible team, but he had them looking like Little Leaguers out there. That was an impressive debut. 14 ks with only 94 pitches and no walks in a debut is amazing. Great start to what seem to be a Hall Of Fame pitcher. Hopefully he has an injury free career and can live up to the hype that the media has given him. Impressive debut for the young man.

The 14 ks with no walks line...that's the point. That's what makes him so, so special: he has Nolan Ryan's electric arm, with Greg Maddux's control. Add that to his four pitch repetoire and his unblemished fundamentals in terms of motion and delivery, he's special.

His stuff was absolutely filthy tonight, granted it was against the Pirates. I would think that there must be enough tape on this guy that any franchise could scout him pretty well, so I have no doubts some teams may think they have him 'figured out'.

I really want to see if he can develop his charlie a little bit more and get a real good hook on it. To have off-speed stuff that tops off in the low-90s is insane and will be almost impossible to read.

His next start is against the Indians, another struggling team (especially offensively) and he can have another double-digit K game no problem. Plus, he won't have to hit.

I'm just waiting for him to pitch against the Mets or the Phils and see what he can do against some big bats in smaller parks.

Agreed.

Once the scouting reports pile up, things will get more difficult.

However, his debut was totally electric.....and certainly lived up to all of the phenom hype.

B) I don't have to slow down. He had no walks, dude, in his first start. There hasn't been anyone in the history of the major leagues to strike out 14 without giving up a walk in their first start. That's a fact.

I fail to see how it's funny. Stephen Strasburg at the age of 21 has equal control as Greg Maddux did at the age of 21. Is he Greg Maddux? Of course not, Maddux is a Hall of Famer, but I never said he was Greg Maddux. What I meant was that he had Greg Maddux-like potential control, and I don't quite understand how someone can't see a comparison in terms of pitching potential at the same age. 14 k's and no walks in 94 pitches is unreal; literally, its unheard of, it's never been done in a major league debut.

Edit: Just saw I didn't write potential in my first post. The confusion is understandable now, my apologies.
