Matt Kinney, a Bangor, Maine, native and sixth-round pick of the Red Sox in the 1995 amateur draft, has been suspended for 50 games after testing positive for amphetamines. The 33-year-old Kinney is currently a member of San Francisco's Triple-A team, the Fresno Grizzlies, last pitching in the major leagues in 2005 for the Giants. Also suspended by Major League Baseball for positively testing for amphetamines was Mets minor-leaguer Lachian Hodge, who was playing for Single-A Kingsport. baseball jerseys

Kinney never made it past Single-A in the Red Sox' minor league system, leaving the organization in 1998 when he was traded to the Twins along with Joe Thomas and John Barnes for Orlando Merced and Greg Swindell. Kinney's most productive season in the majors came when he won 10 games while pitching 190 2/3 innings for Minnesota. He had passed up a chance to attend the University of Maine after winning the Dr. John Winkin Award for the state's best senior high school baseball player, choosing instead to sign with the Red Sox.wholesale nfl jerseys
