please hold your offer, we are not accepting them yet
ive never seen an agent working like this b4, you have big market teams willing to spend big $$, and despite meeting with the teams, the agent and lee are still not accepting offers, amazing strategy
btw, reports say yanks to make 6 yr 140-150 mill offer today

Why would the Rangers want a 140 mil contract. I'm surprised they're not smarter than this.

It seems to be working, doesn't it? The Rangers have already raised their offer. Who knows if the Yankees get nervous and raise their offer.
I'll echo anyone but the Yankees.

I don't understand why these idiots think the mystery team is the Phillies. There is a better chance of me making the major leagues then the Phillies shelling out 150+ million for Lee over the next 7 years.

Well Rosenthal, Heyman and Crasnick are all saying it's the Phillies. Seems that it would probably be them, no?
Edit: And Jack Curry of YES says there is a belief he's heading to the Phillies. Wow would that be an insane rotation. Halladay/Lee/Oswalt/Hamels/Who cares who the 5th starter is? It could be a four year old and that would be the best rotation in baseball.

If they're in on Lee now, why would they have traded him in the first place? Supposedly they traded him away to "replenish their farm system" after acquiring Halladay, but I think everybody realizes they traded him away because they knew they couldn't afford him the following off-season & wanted to get some sort of compensation.

Right and now they're looking to trade Joe Blanton, have Werth off the books and Ibanez will be off the books after this year, plus they reportedly offered less than the Yankees. Just look around all over the web. Just a few minutes ago Joel Sherman tweeted that the Yankees are extremely negative about landing Lee and the Phillies are the favorites.

That would suck for the Yankees if Lee ends up in Philly. Philly adds Lee to a deadly rotation and Boston just added Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez. New York added....

Carl Pavano is still available.

LOL. Lee agrees to deal with Phillies. Those guys who said the Phillies are the 3rd suitor sure are idiots.

ESPN just reported that the Yankees are out of the running.
Philly with Cliff Lee would obviously be dangerous.

T.R. Sullivan is the Rangers beat writer for mlb.com, so I'd imagine he's pretty reliable. Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News says it's a 5 year deal.

Sweet. Glad he's not going to the yankees.

I'm shocked, I guess these guys weren't idiots after all. I never thought the Philly organization would give out a huge contract to Lee.

If he turned down the Yankees then it probably wasn't all about the money....

Yeah it might not be all about money, but I'd imagine he's still being signed for at least 100 million over 5 years.
