ALDS 2011: Tigers (AL Central) vs. Yankees (AL East)

The Tigers may be the hottest team in baseball led by (possibly) the best pitcher in baseball, Justin Verlander. They take on the Yankees, who are stumbling into the postseason, but are coming off an unexpected season taking the AL East crown.

Game 1

Justin Verlander (24-5/2.40 ERA/250 Ks/54 BBs)

vs.

CC Sabathia (19-8/3.00 ERA/230 Ks/61 BBs)

I'll take the Yankees in 5 here. I don't think Verlander will completely stop the Yanks offense and Leyland is debating whether or not to pitch him in 1/4 or 1/5.

Yankees in either 3 or 4. Verlander is the american league CY but the yankees have been successful against him his entire career. He even lost twice to them this year. I think the Yanks will be just fine going up against him. I'm more worried about Fister than I am Verlander at this point.

Verlander isn't "possibly" the best pitcher in baseball right now. He absolutely is. He's going to win the Cy Young in a landslide.

It will be interesting to see how this series plays out now. And they're saying there's a good chance tomorrow could get rained out as well.
