NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Winter Meetings continue to be a productive exercise for the Red Sox. A day after they got the slugger they coveted in Mike Napoli, Boston has agreed to a three-year deal for outfielder Shane Victorino, a source confirmed to MLB.com.

I don't know if the Sox are blowing the money, but they sure over spent for Victorino. With that said I don't think he's going to platoon and I look for him to have an improved season.

These are 3 year contracts, not 7 year contracts.

What would be your big plan for them, genius?

I did not see this coming, but I think it is a great deal for the Sox.

try to get both of them on cheaper deals or for less years.
im not sure i want napoli playing 1st to begin with anyway...but he has power, he can catch and he can DH...no biggie.
I'll leave this one open until I see what LaRoche goes for.

has victorino ever played in right?
he can't hit right handers....lolzwat...how does this make sense?...so they gave a guy 13 Ms per over 3 years for decent defense nowadays and 125-175 ABs against left handers?
I'll leave this one open until I see what Bourn goes for...what Josh Hammy goes for...and what they ultimately do with Ellsbury

but for now...less many and less years on both.

I liked the Napoli deal, but this was overpaying and Victorino showed signs of decline last season.

I have no problem with the Napoli contract, he got a fair deal IMO. As for Victorino I am surprised on years and amount. When I heard the Sox signed him I was thinking in the 2 @ 8 to 10 per range.

When are people going to understand that EVERY PLAYER IS OVERPAID in open free agency. If they could have got him for less they would have.

there's an overpay for a Greinke....where it's like...ur getting a good player, the circumstances just dictated that he'd top out way high.

if we're honest....if Cain and Hamels made it to the market.
Hamels
Cain
Greinke....and his deal would be closer to 100 Ms.

with Victorino?
you're just paying for a player that isn't that good anymore....that can't hit right hand pitching anymore.
and...i don't even want to imagine a world where Napoli is seeing most of my starts at 1B

overall theme is not the amount they paid.
overall theme is: you supposedly "won" the deal with the dodgers by pawning off those contracts to us and this is all u can come up with? victorino and napoli?...really?

i don't see how they get out of last place....but who cares...i'm just me...and that's why they play the game(s)

I understand that most guys get overpaid in FA, I thought 2 years at 8 to 10 for Victorino was overpaying for him.

welp.

wonder what the hell happened for Nap to go from 3-39 to 1-5 with incentives.
