He was never tremendously dominant. He accumulated a lot of saves, but his other career stats are fairly unimpressive. When you look at him compared to guys like Bruce Sutter, Goose Gossage or Mariano Rivera, he doesn't really hold up well.

I enjoyed watching Lee Smith take the mound to close out a game.
Regardless if he makes it or not, I won't be upset, but I expect him to eventually make it.

I hope Steve Cishek continues doing what he has the first 3 years of his career for another 10 years. My guess would be if he does, after he retires nobody will be making calls to send Steve Cishek to the hall of fame.
